Right now this club is a shambles

Barkley's best season was in Martinez's last season...that 2016 you dismiss...even allowing for him clocking off with 10 games to go with the rest of them. Goals and assists he has never contributed more than that season.

Why on earth wouldn't I mean it seriously when saying he's a class player? Spurs and Chelsea wanted him.

He's class. And this current Everton team make him look world class.
Dave. I would love to see Ross sign an extension and settle at Everton, however I don't think it is fair to lay all his woes at the feet of RK.
Ross was already falling out of the international scene before RK ever arrived and that would tell you there was something amiss even then.

strangely, I do think that the tough love tactic of RK would make Ross a better player, but I think the failing with Ross is he cannot handle criticism, he needs support.
That is not really a failing but make life very difficult at the level that he wishes to play.

There's a collective amnesia over Barkley. He's been one of our best two players in the last three seasons at the club. I dont care about the international scene: all that proves is that Southgate is a nobhead.

Barkley scores, he provides assists, he adds dynamism to our transition from defence to attack.
How can people not see he is head and shoulders above the rest of this Koeman team?

Perhaps his desire to leave is not related to EFC....and nothing to do with RK? just tossing that into the maelstrom of speculation...dont get me wrong, I like the guy and have spent a few home games piping down so called supporters who think otherwise...

One of the few things that I cant pin on Koeman is Ross wanting out. He was offered a terrific deal, so we are led to believe anyrate, but decided he wanted out.

Now, if that was cos he didnt like the Manager, thats his decision. But it wasnt like he wasnt playing, (like you say, well). I struggle to recall that many players leaving a club cos they dont like the Manager. It usually means the Manager is toast if senior/best players have issues with him.

But either way, difficult to argue with the thread title.

You and I are old enough to remember the way Gordon Lee consistently undermined McKenzie. It's the same here from the off with Koeman and Barkley. He came in and marginalised Barkley from the off. I dont know why he's done it because he was one of the few players that could keep him in a job. His call. He made it and his attitude made the player believe he couldn't do right for doing wrong. Why would Barkley sign up for more season's of that? Money doesn't come into it.

Everyone can see that (well almost everyone, as whenever I'm at the match the arlarses give him a ton of stick). All that is being said is that your idea that Ross' current predicament coincides / is caused by Ron K pitching up is not based in reality. Ross was on the slide big time in Martinez's last season, and his standing in the England regime is just one obvious barometer of that. Find me an Evertonian who thought Ross was playing well second half of Martinez' last season - he was really, really bad. So if anything Koeman arrested things and got him pointed back in the right direction.

This just typifies the whole aggravation of wanting to see Ross make it at the very top level - he stops playing for a soft get like Martinez, but then he stops playing for a hard get like Koeman. Goes to Chelsea for a medical and bails out halfway though (?!) Something's not right with the lad.

What exactly are you expecting to see off Barkley? How is he "failing"? Give some details...

Interesting angle. I only know about Lee's time here from reading about it, and the few times we were on MOTD/Big Match or at Ashton Gate playing Bristol City. (Not 100% sure if Lee was actually the manager then anyrate and CBA looking it up!) Bristol Evening Post didnt cover Everton that much.

But different times.
