Thought he was a good appointment at the time and a solid first season heavily reliant on lukaku .what was to follow will probably go down as one of the worst pre season and start to a season I've ever known from the recruitment to the planning of preseason it was utterly shambolic from top to bottom .

We had a decent enough first season with Koeman.I honestly though there was a solid platform to build from going forwards.But then he (along with Steve Walsh) signed a load of rubbish, and that was that really.The latter end of the Koeman reign was like the Jimmy Gabriel/Mike Walker era.We were a shambles.

I'm no fan of Koeman at all. Most of the time watching us play, I had no idea what he was trying to achieve in terms of tactics.

I completely fell for him. Think he threw his toys out of the pram with the Giroud debacle, and shown himself to be a complete egomaniac.

As with everyone who comes here, I wanted to give him a fair crack of the whip. I wasn't at all convinced about him before he came here, but I'd reached the point where I knew we needed something very different to Martinez. For a year it wasn't too bad, albeit I could never see what the "plan" was.

It became v clear after not too long that the plan had never been there at all, other than "give it to Lukaku". Think he and Walsh were a perfect storm, combined they cost the club tens of millions and set us back further than we had been at the end of the Martinez era.

Stripped the club of every creative player we had and the signings were, at very best, mixed.

Add to that, he came across as a complete blert and never even attempted to make it look like he was here for anything other than the money and the next step in his quest to get to Barcelona. Nothing but contempt for him.

All this talk of whether 'he got the club' or he understood us is interesting - I used to wonder whether it really matters that much, but the main point is that the manager has to inspire confidence. We are all like minor shareholders, who put in loads of money, and just need some hope and excitement in return. In a way we are getting nothing but hope and emotions for our investments, but we want at the very least someone who looks like they want to be here and want the best for us. That's why I always liked Martinez, and I'm sure he was really depressed by the way things worked out we were too. Not only does the manager have to get us, but we have to get the manager too...

Moyes understood but was limited by his own tactics and no investment, and we kind of sympathised because we knew he did his best, mostly, and he made some great signings.
Martinez definitely understood, but didn't have the coaching staff and tactics to be physical and solid when it mattered (but his 3 years was better than how he is remembered) We got his idea, but thought he was naive, and we want fighters as well as stylish players
Koeman - I think we have to let him off the red christmas tree, but he never talked a good game, or good tactics. We also never could see what he was trying to do, and ultimately never saw any example of what 'Koeman style' football was. He looked like he was a consultant
Allardyce - behaved like he was too good for us, and still is spinning a story about it on every interview he gets, to try and secure his next job. Super annoying.

the red christmas tree drives me up the wall, if you actually look at the tweets it was stuff like

"ooh wrong colour baubles there" the way the loveables over the park make out we sent him death threats when i thought it was largely tongue in cheek

at the time the daft get hadnt won in about 10 games either!
