I thought the views of that Social Mobility Czar to be an absolute disgrace …know your place, don’t aspire, keep those born in poverty to remain in poverty… I was fuming when I read that nonsense. Where you start from is either and advantage or a disadvantage, but at the end of the day it’s about the ability, drive and intelligence of the individual that counts, not the house they grew up in……

Anyone in this industry will tell you ring the bt police and you either will not get through or the incident is long over

There's a very good reason for that: they're chronically understaffed with shift patterns designed in such a way to ensure coverage during peak and weekends.

If there's an incident at 9pm on a Monday night somewhere in Lancashire, the response team may come from as far as the Midlands - or even Gloucestershire.

At certain times of the day, there's likely to be two cops covering the whole of Merseyside, Lancashire, Cumbria and North Wales. Yup, two.
