It’s a shame that Corbyn never clocked what an opening for the right wing Brexit presented.

It’s the magic bottle that their genie popped out of. Had Brexit been properly resisted and defeated, the Faragist wing would have been reduced to political non-entities.

Brexit gave him and his ilk credibility and confidence that should never have existed.
Brexit fed the little englanders, who had been pretty quiet and small in numbers, but now they are emboldened by the rhetoric from the last government and indeed starmer has not helped. We are now seeing the results.

Sadly, Ireland is also seeing a rise in far right thuggery, which has not been an issue here since the Blueshirts of the 1930s. The causes? One of the biggest is a gross failure of successive Governments to tackle the housing problem - we have huge numbers of homeless while thousands of properties are empty. This has festered resentment, but has also fed those who have a racist agenda, and they are being successful in inciting idiots to join in violent attacks on proposed centres for accommodation of asylum seekers and the Gardai in particular.

Starmer (nor his government) can be justifiably blamed for any aspect of the current situation.

That’s just nonsensical political opportunism, offered only by the right wing nut-jobs.

As far as the situation in Ireland goes, I think it’s a totally different kettle of kippers. My other half is from Booterstown, so I do have some insight.

The economy over there has boomed compared to the UK. At one time, a trip to Dublin was cheap, now London is a bargain by comparison.

Any successful economy will attract migrants, Ireland are currently learning the ups and downs of being hugely successful.

I agree that the lack of an appropriate housing policy has made the situation in Ireland, far worse than it need be, but that is as a result of economic success, rather than what applies in the UK, which is total and utter failure.

I would have expected at least one of the regional forces to go, it deffo ain’t happening here.

1 warning, then whack-whack ouch and you’re nicked.

The similarity in the passive policing across the country is worrying. A similarly unsatisfactory outcome in all cases, must surely bring about a change in their approach ?
The chief of that police force would've been pilloried from every corner of the media.

Farage, GB news, talk radio presenters minute by minute would be describing disproportionate police action, "contrasted with policing of protestors chanting the name of hamas" and calling for a resignation.

The police intent will have been to keep themselves safe and protect life.

This is fueled by bots. Any subject on twitter is replied to by some fake account pushing a far right naritive.
The question is where is the ground zero for these bots. Who is funding them?

Fair enough, but I didn't blame starmer for the situation, I said he hasn't helped. I would expect stronger leadership and clarity as a welcome change from the mess created by the last crowd.

Tell your other half I am also a southsider!! Most of these nasty rioting types are of course northsiders :)

I have just been saying that , if it was Football fans they would have the batons out police horses riding in.
This lot have no fear of the cops at all , leads to you can't touch me attitude from to many.
I have been smacked in the gob, punched , kicked legged by horses and dogs , been beaten with batons on the floor, by coppers, deliberately ran into with police vans and cars at the game , mostly deserved it some times not.
Have given a bit back to at times .
But you didn't ever go out your way to confront them as there was only one winner in that game.
Coppers need to get let off the leash, and earn the respect back.
This lot today are just little bastards who cause trouble they aren't far right protesters or anything else just trouble causing vermin.
Was that just at one match?

Absolutely standard behaviour for Liverpool unfortunately.

All this nans against nazis praise and claims of being different because it's a socialist paradise doesn't really explain why there seems to be a significant number of local people desperate for any type of social unrest just so they can take to the streets and self-justify causing carnage to their community at large.

If those scals on the street really wanted to be different they'd be protecting their community instead of thinking it's a laugh to shoot fireworks at police and rampage in the streets.

It's exactly like when the kopites have a parade. Same scum different day, Liverpool is absolutely rotten with these type of people. Same with every city.

Time to stop with the wouldn't happen in Liverpool nonsense.
