This was quoted a lot from people who don’t understand the system.Labour haven't presented a narrative that its our system to blame, not minorities. I think the Forde report shown within the party there is a lot of racism aswell. This is food for thought aswell, from the week before the election.

He shouldn't have singled out a country, simple as that. The issue is he's said this having lost a Bangladeshi Labour councillor who resigned from the party. I don't think visiting a country or having members of that country in your constituency gives you a free pass on this stuff. Worth saying Bangladesh is 90% Muslim and in the election a few days after that comment Labour's vote fell in constituencies with more than 25% of the population being Muslim. He told broadcasters: "The reference in the debate the other day was an example of a country that is considered safe as far as asylum is concerned, and one of the countries that's actually got a returns agreement with us, and that is actually a good thing where both we and Bangladesh can be proud of.
"I certainly wasn't intending to cause any concern or offence to any Bangladeshi community here."
He said he values the relationship and the contribution of the Bangladeshi community in Britain, adding: "They've made a massive contribution to our economy, to our culture and to our country. That's why there's always been a longstanding and strong relationship between Labour and the Bangladeshi community here.
"It's why my first trip as a Labour MP was to Bangladesh, where I saw for myself the strength of the country, the hospitality and warmth of the country. I've got many Bangladeshi constituents in my own constituency who I've been working with for many years, and I want to build on that in government."
And I’ve just realised I’ve made a grammar mistake in that postBlocked![]()

A Bangladeshi Labour councillor resigned from the party because she found the comment singled out her community and was offensive, was she wrong to?This was quoted a lot from people who don’t understand the system.
The reason why Bangladesh was mentioned here, is that it’s considered a ‘safe’ country to remove people to, whose asylum application has been refused. As opposed to somewhere like Syria or Iran, where it’s very difficult to remove someone to, as even if they didn’t meet the bar to be granted asylum, the standards to deport to that country are more difficult.
It was a nothing statement.

Politics and the kow-towing of the major parties to the dog whistle racism of the far right is at the heart of this.
They look at the political leader of the country and see him on the attack against migrants and are emboldened.
It's a vicious circle.
He shouldnt, it was wrong. He shouldn't have singled out a country, simple as that.
Your riot police seem very soft, here in Croatia its well know facts that riot police consist of people who enjoy to break some bones and joining riot police gave them legal way of doing it, in short you don't feck with riot police here.
It’s a shame that Corbyn never clocked what an opening for the right wing Brexit presented.
Have a day off Pete ffsDon’t worry, they’ll just find another way for the pensioners to pay for it…….
