Qualifying for the Europa or Conference league: is it worth it?

Should we be concerned with qualifying for the lesser European competitions this season?

We should try and compete at the highest level we can and we should try and win every competition we are in. I know that for many people on here that is a controversial opinion but I don't actually know why.
I don't even watch or like how European competitions are done now.
The amount of teams that can qualify is just stupid.

To think that we're to big for it from where we've been though 🤷‍♂️

Aren’t there different restrictions on what we can spend if in Europe? Something like 85% in PL SCR, but in Europe I think it’s 70 or 75%.

I always interpreted that as being unless the competition you are in yields a lot more income, being in something like the conference league would mean (from a regulatory perspective) we would actually have less money to spend on wages and transfer fees.

Or I could be getting it insanely wrong.

yes for several reasons:

statement achievement for our first season in new ground and new era

chance of winning a trophy. west ham and now palace could win it finishing bottom half of the prem

less monday games

spurs(if they survive) newcastle, chelsea, forest all surely improve next year, also one of bournemouth or brighton likely getting champions league so they will also improve their side. even if we improve theres no guarantee that we’d finish higher in the league

I’m in my 30s so i want european games before life gives me too much responsibility, or before full scale russian invasion/jet fuel shortage/nuclear annihilation

If our new owners are the ambitious, competent professionals they have been heralded as, qualifying for Europe will merely accelerate their squad building as it means we have to pad the squad out for the extra competition and gives us another perk to help us attract a better quality of player.

If you can't win the league, finish second. If you can't do that, make the Champions League. If you can't do that, qualify for the Europa. If you can't do that, make the Conference League. If you can't do that, call Sean Dyche.

What if you also don’t want to be relegated?

Qualify for Europe or the warm embrace of mid-table?
get me my beige cardigan and throw another log on fire, who wants to be traipsing around in -18 at AZ Alkmaar again.

No Thank You.

If we don't make Europe this season it's not that big of a deal for me.

I hope next season we can progress and be the oldest starting eleven.

Also top the lack of average possession stats for the season.

Moyes to go for the hat trick of being knocked out at home in the FA Cup first opportunity.

OH DAVEY MOYES

Put it this way, it'll impact our league form and it certainly won't help us attract better players, plus we'll have to win it if we want to improve (qualify for Europa) the season after, which we'd obviously not do.

No brainer. The club and all of the supporters need Europe after what we have been through the last few shameful years. It brings money, excitement, good PR and more players will want to join in summer.

I think we need to shake off the loser fug of the last 30y and the only way to do that is actually winning something, even if some sneer.

We’re staggering out of the wilderness with broken bones and covered in our own excrement here, after long since having been given up for dead.

But we survived. Oh yes.

So bring on the Euro Tinpot - and the sweet scent of victory, with any luck and after a bath.

Bought some tripe sausage by accident once in France btw. Earthy.

The op question makes zero sense by the way. It says should we be concerned with qualifying for the lesser European Competitions this season? If you want Europe then no is the obvious answer but don't think people have read it like that because of the thread title. So the results won't tell you anything really.
