Qualifying for the Europa or Conference league: is it worth it?

Should we be concerned with qualifying for the lesser European competitions this season?

A trophy we would have a brilliant chance of winning and you get to travel to places you never knew existed so you can point at things in shops, look at a menu in disgust when you can’t find pie and walk about with white socks and sliders. Europe is the dream.

If our new owners are the ambitious, competent professionals they have been heralded as, qualifying for Europe will merely accelerate their squad building as it means we have to pad the squad out for the extra competition and gives us another perk to help us attract a better quality of player.

If you can't win the league, finish second. If you can't do that, make the Champions League. If you can't do that, qualify for the Europa. If you can't do that, make the Conference League. If you can't do that, call Sean Dyche.
Never understood the argument that we shouldn't get Europe because it would hurt our league position.
Why would you care about league position if you don't want Europe?

No no, don't get in to Europe, because we might end up finishing 12th in the league and not in the European places.

I just don't get it. We should be aiming for Europe every single year.

Our record in Europe over the decades is awful for a club of Everton's stature.
And this, btw, is why on another thread some of us based in continental Europe are saying Everton is not as well known in places like Germany as people might expect.

We have said it is a consequence of our irrelevance - but it is also a consequence of us failing to convert our domestic excellence into European success in those periods when we have been domestically relevant. The 1970 champions didn't. The 1984 side did. And then had it taken away through no fault of their own. The 1995 side didn't, and Moyes's sides definitely didn't. We don't even need to mention Martinez and Koeman in Europe.

We haven't pushed our weight in Europe and that is why we are largely anonymous to the average, say, German football fan.

I don't give a flying one about modern european leagues. Obviously it would be a feather in the cap to win what's laughably called the champions league - but I'd only honestly feel we deserved it if we qualified as actual champions. Otherwise its meaningless to me compared with the league or FA cup ... even the league cup, whatever its called today.

I can see the advantage of us being in europe so far as being able to attract better soulless mercenaries to the club though.
You’d rather win the league cup than the Champions league?

I look at Palace and say bloody well done, happy for you..

I wouldn't mind saying that about us.

I found out there was actually a team called 'Noah'. A very insightful bit of knowledge, I want more..

Stick your noses up at it, stop moaning about everything else 🤐
(And that includes you Moomin)

Just Give me something different. whether I laugh at the teams or not, i'll still be laughing..
