Hes been usefull for us at times and spells - he never really commanded a place though did he. Hes had two good six month spells for us really. Ive liked him at times other times ive been less than impressed.

I dont think we will miss him hugely if he goes. Lets wait and see who and where we strengthen with any fee. If say selling the Heit enabled us to get a Dempsy - then i wouldnt be to fussed.

We'd be left with Duffy an unproven kid, Jagielka, and Distin who is on his last legs.

What happens in a season when Distin is 35 ? Where do we find the replacement for him ? What if Duffy isn't up to regular first team football ?

1) Disagree, Heitinga has more to his game than Jagielka ever will (mainly because he can clear the ball without smashing it)
2) Distin is 34. How many seasons do you honestly think he can carry on at the top level ?
3) Hibbert covering at Centre half. Jesus wept. Is this what we've come to ? Accepting our squad being ripped apart and shoving an RB into CB ?
4) There is absolutely nothing to back that up whatsoever. Moyes seems to have zero intention of playing him at centre half.
5) Duffy who may not even be good enough for the top flight.

We'll just replace him with someone Moyes thinks is almost as good, but on lower wages than John. You can only assume he thinks he can get better value for money than Heitinga, we'll see.

I really don't get that comment.

Of course we will need to try and add another CB when Distin goes, but we're not talking about Distin, we're talking about Heitinga.

If Heitinga is sold and Distin retires at the end of this season (which i think is highly likely) then we would be left with Jagielka and Duffy with Hibbert as cover.

Absolute piss take. Why sell a player who has just had a standout season ? Any fee for Cahill will be small, Yobo money will go directly to funding the Pienaar purchase, and Heitinga will no way be sold for £10m, more like £6m knowing this board.

Even if Moyes got £6m he'd struggle to find a player of Heitinga's ability for that much. Just because he did it with Distin and Heitinga does not mean he'll be able to do it again. What if he pulls another Bily ? We'll be at the point of no return if that happens.

Duffy has shown enough to get a chance and whilw he was never going to get it with three CBs as good as Jags, Distin and Heitinga ahead of him, I'd be happy to see him on the team sheet. End of the day CB is by far our strongest single position.

I'd rather we keep all four of them, but I don't think selling Heitinga leaves us short the way selling Baines or Jelavic would.
