38 - 39 - 40...... it’s still a long way from 52. And I don’t see any direct quotes re the 10k waiting list, which I would say is pure bullsh1t.

There’s a fine balance between what’s needed to cover demand & over capacity, which could turn half this alleged demand into part timers.

The echo had a piece where they referenced dbb saying it and other media have mentioned it too. Mate it's the guardian and the times no goal or sports lens.

West ham, spurs, Sunderland and man city. They have all moved to much bigger grounds and had no problems selling the tickets. West hams ground is terrible and still getting boss crowds. They got 57,000 against palace the other day. West ham vs sodding palace!!!!! 57,000 attendence!!!!

And we're saying we can't do 55,000 ffs.

Yeah, I understand where you're coming from mate my dad reckons in his distant memory that we had 78,000 against the rs on Saturday 72,000 the following Tuesday and 76,000 the following Saturday against Utd. He may have got it wrong but my point is times have changed. We where one of the biggest clubs in Europe then and certainly the biggest club on merseyside

West ham v palace was 57,000 a week ago. Can we not compete with West ham no?

There's been some stuff in the press just recently about the difference between the published attendance and the actual attendance at some of the premier league clubs and at West Ham,there have been some massive discrepancies. They give away a lot of complimentary tickets I believe, and count them towards the gate even if the ticket holders don't turn up. They sell a lot of cheap (by London standards)S.T. s as well, and again not all of them turn up. Their avarage gate last season was given as over 55000 but official figures show that it was well under 43000. If Everton (who as far as I'm aware do publish the number of actual attendees in the stadium)do fill 52000 every game,we will be comfortably better supported than West Ham. I will add though, that I too was hoping for an initial bigger capacity than this.

Thing is are they going 52 because it's easier to fill then 60 or are they going 52 because it's an easier project to deliver on time?
For me 52 has to be the better option because it's going to easier to get built, cheaper, less infrastructure needed around the ground in terms of dispersal times for fans, public transport links..etc we need to get this done, if wanting an extra 8k seats adds another season onto the wait it has to be 52k

Yeah mate you would definitely think we are a bigger club than West Ham. But ask their fans what they think about their ground and I bet they think if it was smaller and a better design the atmosphere would be far better. It's all about atmosphere for me were your ground is packed to the rafters and I'm just not sure we could fill say a 65-70,000 stadium. I'm not saying we couldn't, I'm just not sure we could at the moment.

We used to get 70,000 in goodison mate have some faith in the fan base. It's opinions like these that let the club get away with its lack of drive and ambition.

Look at West ham moving into the London stadium or spurs, they've gone from 39,000 white heart lane to selling out Wembley at times.

We currently have 33,000 season ticket holders plus 10,000 on the waiting list (We'd have more if it wasn't for the restricted views) so say that's 43,000, 3,000 away fans and 5,000 corporate. That's 51,000 so thats 1,000 tickets available to walk ups, that's ridicules! A brand new stadium and we'll most probably only have 1,000 tickets for walk ups, that's how you capitalise on that new stadium bounce by not having any damn spare seats!!! We get 3,000 walk ups at goodison ffs and again we'd get more if there wasn't a huge post in front of most of them.

This just proves to me there's no ambition in this club at all, there's no faith in the fan base, we can talk the talk but every time we just poo the bed. Sky were taking the Mick out of us yesterday by showing how low it the capacity is. Less then st James park... we're just a embarrassing club aren't we.
I don't think it shows a lack of ambition at all. 52000 is realistic in my opinion. Go over the last 10 years and see the amount of times we have had a full house. It's not actually that many times other than the bigger games like Liverpool and Manchester United. All clubs want the stadium full and bouncing but actually it's the TV money where the majority of your money comes from so capacity has nothing to do with ambition.

Ahhhhh...well bug! I actually remember hearing about this but thought they'd knocked it on the head when they got found out.

I wish people would bugger off with these atmosphere excuses.

Not having a go at you personally mate, just sick of people acting like we have a boss atmosphere when Goodison has been just as quiet as these supposed big bad soul less bowl stadiums in recent seasons.

Empty seats and a quiet atmosphere doesn't seem to stop City or Arsenal smashing most sides at home week in week out.

All about building for future success and 52k isnt good enough.

55-57k should have been the realistic size.

Im curious why you think an extra 4k seats would make a difference?

It works out at around 2m a season, its really not groundbreaking.

Why do rich people buy 5 bed detached houses if they only need a 3 bed?

Or buy flash cars for massive price tags when a standard car for a 1/4 of the price can get you to where you want?

A 57k stadium tells the league Everton want to go places, 52k tells people they are happy to be around mid clubs and the like.

Going to be alot of fans looking very silly when in 5 years half the bottom clubs around us will have expanded their grounds to 50-55k whilst we swag around in our 52k with a midtable manager shouting that we are going to break the top 6...

So you just want to pretend we have a big penis.

Rather than using our penis in the right way.

Speaks volumes this.

57k would still mean we would be embarrassed in the shower tho.

I do t think they want a smaller one just a better designed ground. It's miles from the pitch and is just a soules bowl tbh. I'm not asking for a 60,000 seater stadium but 55,000 isn't a lot. You say it's all about atmosphere but what's goodisons atmosphere like anyway? It's dead most of the time. I mean we haven't had a lot to cheer about tbh but even so.
