Explain to me then why all the big clubs have big stadiums then? Why doesn't United have a 40,000 seater stadium then? Why did city bother moving to a 55,000 seater stadium? Why have spurs spent close to 1 billion pounds on building a new stadium when they could of just stayed at white heart lane that was 36,000?

We have more season ticket holders then Liverpool, we have a bigger fan base then Newcastle, west ham and Sunderland, look at the size of their grounds.

For the last 3 seasons we've had waiting lists on our season tickets and before that getting a ticket that wasn't a restricted view was a absolut nightmare. Also since 1995 we've averaged aroung 36-37,000 attendance a game. Considering we only have 39,527 capacity and a lot of restricted view seats. I'd say we have done alright for capacity.

I've always asked that myself, considering the amount of empty seats they have at their home games.

I feel sorry for fans like yourself.

Fed off Kenwrights bull for years and you have the audacity to attack fans who KNOW what this clubs history and size truly is.

The same fools who clapped Bill on the big screen, wanted Unsworth as our manager and took Wayne back with open arms.
Mate I don't want to fall out with you but I'll always respect Bill Kenwright for what he done for the club. He simply didn't have the funds to take us further in my eyes but he is still a blue.
Also we are a mid table team along side wolves and west ham. Yes we all want to be in the Manchester city money league but we are not and I accept it and hope at the start of a season for a top four finish and a cup win.

I do t think they want a smaller one just a better designed ground. It's miles from the pitch and is just a soules bowl tbh. I'm not asking for a 60,000 seater stadium but 55,000 isn't a lot. You say it's all about atmosphere but what's goodisons atmosphere like anyway? It's dead most of the time. I mean we haven't had a lot to cheer about tbh but even so.
Yeah mate but it has been good in the past. I've been in there when it was shakin'

I wish people would bugger off with these atmosphere excuses.

Not having a go at you personally mate, just sick of people acting like we have a boss atmosphere when Goodison has been just as quiet as these supposed big bad soul less bowl stadiums in recent seasons.

Empty seats and a quiet atmosphere doesn't seem to stop City or Arsenal smashing most sides at home week in week out.

All about building for future success and 52k isnt good enough.

55-57k should have been the realistic size.
Maybe not mate but atmosphere has certainly helped that lot over the park on numerous occasions. The atmos at Goodison has been poor recently but many managers including Venger and Fergie have commented on it in the past, on how hostile and intimidating it was. I've been in there when the old girl was shaking. I do believe that atmosphere at the game contributes to the whole match day experience.

I agree mate I love it at the old girl when shes bouncing - I just think those days are largely gone... and if you add in the extra fans unless safe standing is introduced I can't see any new ground regardless of capacity being able to replicate Goodison of old.

We can but hope. Hope is a good thing.

My concern is this stadium is 5 seasons away. If the ownership were determined to have us as a top 6 club before then do you really think they wouldn't be already planning for future success now?

I just feel alot of fans have been duped by the club and all this "nothing will be the same again".

Little heads up, its NOT 1985 anymore, we havent won a thing for 23 years and we are no nearer to doing so.
.
Honestly think if the club/manager took the competition seriously we could at least get close to a Carling Cup. It may not be fashionable or even a great cup but it's silverware, something I've never seen this club win in my time supporting us.

Good point mate. Hope you're wrong like

So much dissention!. This new stadium seems to be dividing Evertonians. Coupled with all the financial uncertainty that has recently reared it’s worrying head, would it be a good idea to put the whole thing on pause?
At Goodison, at least everyone is happy...especially those with an obstructed view (given our last 30 years of performance lol).
Feeling all the seething anger herein this thread, makes me think that staying at Goodison would be the most sensible (and popular) option...
