What's the point of having a 60, 70, or even 100,000 capacity stadium if we don't fill it. I would rather have a full to the brim 52k stadium with great atmosphere than a three quarter full one where the atmosphere will just not come across very well.
Hopefully it might be a new dawn. I've never believed the acoustics to be that great at goodison so the crowd had to do more to make the noise whereas over the park unfortunately the acoustics where better. What about a 52k stadium with a library atmosphere? Goodison is always full, but the atmosphere is rubbish.
I remember when Arsenal built their stadium, their council would only allow them to build a stadium of just over 60,000 seats. But they made it large enough to actually fit 70,000 seats in. I think this is what we are doing, we know the council will reject a plan for a 60,000+ seater, so we are going with 52,000 and will then slowly add more seats each season, or when required
55k should have been the capacity.
If the club had ambitions/plans of us being a top 6 side in 5 seasons time they would have aimed for higher imo.

You sir, talk sense, leave this forum immediately damn you!!!It’s all about supply & demand. OK, were selling out now at 38’000, but it’s not like we’ve got a waiting list for season tickets. The number of restricted views is a factor, but that’s not going to account for 14’000. That’s a lot of extra people!
Most ST holders renew because they love the club & go to every game. A percentage of ST holders would ideally pick & choose games, but know they have to buy a ST to guarantee they get them. Unless we really step up on the pitch, we risk losing demand & will be playing to empty seats.
Same with corporate seats. The calculations have to be right. Over capacity kills demand.
I just want it to be as close to the pitch & as steep as is allowed. Provision for standing as soon as that’s allowed. Attention paid to acoustics so it’s loud & intimidating.
I have to say I would come over to more games. Other than the fact I struggle to find the time, the only seats I can ever buy are restricted view. I would make the effort if I knew I could get a decent seat for me and my lad. It’s all about supply & demand. We sell out at around 40,00 most games and according to our CEO we have 10,000 waiting list on season tickets. But hey ho let's get a new ground with less seats then a team that spends most of its time in the championship or 3,000 more then a team in leauge 1.
Yeah, I understand where you're coming from mate my dad reckons in his distant memory that we had 78,000 against the rs on Saturday 72,000 the following Tuesday and 76,000 the following Saturday against Utd. He may have got it wrong but my point is times have changed. We where one of the biggest clubs in Europe then and certainly the biggest club on merseysideWe used to get 70,000 in goodison mate have some faith in the fan base. It's opinions like these that let the club get away with its lack of drive and ambition.
Look at West ham moving into the London stadium or spurs, they've gone from 39,000 white heart lane to selling out Wembley at times.
We currently have 33,000 season ticket holders plus 10,000 on the waiting list (We'd have more if it wasn't for the restricted views) so say that's 43,000, 3,000 away fans and 5,000 corporate. That's 51,000 so thats 1,000 tickets available to walk ups, that's ridicules! A brand new stadium and we'll most probably only have 1,000 tickets for walk ups, that's how you capitalise on that new stadium bounce by not having any damn spare seats!!! We get 3,000 walk ups at goodison ffs and again we'd get more if there wasn't a huge post in front of most of them.
This just proves to me there's no ambition in this club at all, there's no faith in the fan base, we can talk the talk but every time we just poo the bed. Sky were taking the Mick out of us yesterday by showing how low it the capacity is. Less then st James park... we're just a embarrassing club aren't we.
