Progress

Nonsense. Mid table and two extensive cup runs are more worthwhile to a BS 7th place and being dumped out of the cups early doors.

There has been NO progress in that sense.

Has he got these cowards working again? Yes. Has it been an impressive season? Has it bollocks. Home form aside its been dour away from home and the football only picked up in the second half of the season, as the first half was utter muck.
Cup runs are a side issue, good fun and a cracking day out if you win one, worst feeling in the world if you lose. The League is by far the main competition. League position is the ultimate arbiter of how successful your season has been . The higher up the league we are ,the more wins I have witnessed. Unless you win a cup it confers no prestige. No one remembers the losers or the semi finalists. Poor teams can win cups as Wigan proved.
As disappointing as our away form has been our home form has been excellent, considering we had the worst home record in our entire history last season I'd call that significant progress.
I'm looking forward to our remaining games and I'm very optimistic for next season. I haven't said that for a couple of years so that's progress for me anyway.

It's fascinating to me that league position is more important than actually trying to win stuff. We didn't even show up at the races this season.

I'd happily sacrifice a few league places to start actually winning stuff again. The latch on the trophy case is rusted shut it's been so long.

We made nil progress this season towards that end.
Exactly.

Burnley, Bournemouth, Watford, Southampton, Swansea, Stoke, Boro, West Ham plus the top five away = 5 points from 13 games. To think 11 more points would be champions league this season so quite frustrating in a way, but happy we have been more competitive and much improved at home. Las season was ridicullous at home looking back.

We've been, at best, bog average away from home this season. If we have ambitions of top four then that needs to change. Because I'm a pragmatist by nature, one of the things I like about Koeman is his pragmatism, but he will need to shed some of that pragmatism next season and be more expansive and show more belief away from home if we're to kick on.

I think he has that in his locker, but only time will tell.

we're really [Poor language removed] to watch....fell asleep today watching us for the first time ever.
Home results have been great but performances......not edge of the seat stuff.
Away results and performances [Poor language removed].
Have we made progress?...yes ever so slightly.
We're not gonna compete with the best for years and years, why don't we just go and win a [Poor language removed] trophy aka league cup?

We don't. That's what the manager said post match today. "It's unrealistic".

I'm not arsed how we finish to be honest, key objectives met. I'd rather the club start the planning for the close season now, play the U23s let the lads of on an early holiday fray to rock first week in July for the qualifiers.

Good lord, I pretty much stopped watching those in RM's first season, they were just spin then and, though they've improved a bit since then, they're pretty much just spin now.

Not for me. They are used instrumentally. If Koeman is now setting the tone for the remainder of his time here where it's a success to get best of the rest or even 5th then that is a big deal. It is exactly the wrong message to send out.

We've been there with Moyes and his knives to a gunfight. It's intolerable and certainly so a for a man pulling in £6m per season.

Lol...funny how so many try to warp the Martinez discussion by taking away his first season.

Martinez inherited a solid top 7 squad. By the end of his tenure it was a bottom half squad. Moyes and Koeman both took bottom half squads into the top 7. Its as simple as that. Trying to make out that Moyes was a failure because his league average position was closer to 8th than 7th is strange, regardless of what he does now that man worked miracles at this club.
