Agree with recent posts.

Would make a good "icing on the cake" signing if preceeded by several more signings of players younger and/or approaching peak performance levels.

If a Rooney signing represents the best of what we might have to look forward to over the summer, then its a poor reflection on all the anticipation and excitement that has accompanied Moshiri's arrival.

So did you boo Howard Kendall when he came back several times?

He left as a player and a manager (jibbed us for Spain) yet I can't see many booing him (quite rightly, the bona fide legend that he is).

I may be being mischievous here :p
I take your point , however Kendall's service to this club as player and manager of this club prior to his decision far outweighed the disappointment I did feel at his decision. The loyalty he showed to Everton subsequently confirms that he thoroughly deserved the appellation of True Evertonian.
Rooney on the other hand happily basked in the Evertonian name incuding the now infamous t-shirt. Yet at 17 appointed a loathsome agent in Stretford and engineered the jibbing off of the club he claimed to support.
When you add the badge kissing and the loathsome way he held his club (United) to ransom over wage demands, I find nothing to admire or respect in this pathetic character.
On top of all this he is clearly in decline, Mourinho liked him enough in the past to try to sign him, so the fact he now leaves him out should be a salutary warning as to his current abilities. The United fans I know have observed his decline over the past 3 seasons . He would be coming here at the dog end of his career to screw us over again.

If he comes, he will still be on a ridiculous massive salary. I very much doubt there will be any other major signings.

All these goals/assists were in the past 18 months or so. Check out the goal at 1.45m of the video. Utter genius. And at 2.28 and 2.55. World-class.

I want him back so I can spend this

Yes, but for sensible wages and with a contract that is over a sensible length of time. I don't buy that he's completely finished, I still think he could have a bit to offer, but as others have said I don't want to make him the focal point of our business this summer.

Of course mate, I wasn't being entirely serious and the situations are entirely different.

I'm not exactly wowed by his return either.
