George Morgan scored again for Cannes tonight in a friendly against Riviera FC. Cannes won 2-1 and their other scorer was a lad named Tran Van...(presumably of Vietnamese decent).

Elsewhere most of the rest of the loanees seem to be injured. Onyango, Dixon, Okoronkwo, Campbell and Tamen were all absent.

Martin Sherif came off the bench on 78 minutes for Port Vale with the score 1-1 at home to Luton. It finished that way. Vale still bottom.

Isaac Heath played the full 90 for Accrington who lost 2-1 at Bromley. Accrington had a man sent off early on. They are 13th.

George Finney was dropped to bench despite having scored midweek. He came on for Ayr after 59 minutes with his side already losing 2-1 at St Johnstone. It finished 3-1. Ayr drop to 5th.

Jack Patterson has finally made the bench for Lodz. Game kicks off later.

The dream final is still on...

George Pickford played for Southport who drew 1-1 at home to Yeovil in the FA Trophy but went through to the semi finals 4-2 on pens. Yeovil missed 2 but not sure if he saved either of the misses. Either way he is a popular player up there.

Unfortunately, George Pickford sustained what looked like a fractured hand early in the 2nd half and had to come off. Played solidly in the 1st half, one Great save to tip a header onto the post.

Shame for all concerned that this will be the end of the loan.

Wow that's really disappointing. Thanks for all your updates on his loan. Hope Southport can go on and win it.

Ah that's a real shame. What a rollercoaster week the lad's had. Hopefully not too bad.

Just catching up with the loanee action after a great night under the Hill Dickinson lights (and at Molyneux).

Martin Sherif's Port Vale made it to the next round of the FA Cup with a 1-0 win over Bristol City. He started the game and came off after 63 minutes with the game scoreless. Eli Campbell entered the fray in extra time and Vale grabbed late winner and play Sunderland next.

Cup success also for Roman Dixon whose Stockport made the final of the EFL Trophy with a 1-0 victory away to Doncaster. Dixon came on at half time with his side already leading.

George Finney was restored to the Ayr starting line up at Arbroath. He was withdrawn on 61 minutes with the game 0-0. Final score was 1-1. Ayr are 5th.

Seems to happen a lot with our youth players where a lot of them just aren't robust enough for the rigour of mens football.

I wonder if its the same at other clubs and its a case of u18/u21 football just isnt at the required level or if players just aren't physically up to it

We've had Onyango, Sheriff, Okoronkwo, Dixon off the top of my head all struggle fitness wise with the step up. Tamen has been out of the Tranmere squad and I don't think we've had an update on what kind of injury he had. Armstrong obviously has done well twice on loan but there's definitely more failures than successes.

That's a shame. Wonder if it was the same wrist/hand held broke last season

I think the jump to proper mens football at any level is huge physically. Obviously some players develop physically later, some develop early and dominate the younger levels and well some won't at all.

It's a tough gig to predict imo

George Morgan started again for Cannes tonight at home to Limonest. He was subbed off on 35 minutes, sacrificed when the Cannes keeper was sent off with the game scoreless. Cannes went behind from the resulting free kick but hit back in the 2nd period to run out 3-1 winners. Cannes go top on goal difference but 2nd placed Lusitanos have a game in hand.
