so you could conclude he has found his feet, arteta style, and is going to push on even more next season.

Creativity isn't all about assists.

Same as defending isn't all about tackling - if it was, Hibbert is officially the best defender in the Prem, according to opta.

You never replied to my other points.

I thought he had an hit and miss start to the season but improved when Arteta moved centrally and Baines came in at left back as you said. Obviously that's just my opinion.

In terms of creating goals (end product), which is the main thing when it comes to 'creativity' Pienaar betters Arteta and has done for the last two seasons. That's what I was talking about anyway. Add that to his link up play with Baines down the left (our best outlet) and I'd say he's the top man.

Arteta certainly excels in other areas though, I'll give you that. Different roles, different types of creativity and all that.

or.. after the first season explosion, second season syndrome kicked in and only towards the end he regained his true form.

So you agree with me and Toxteth that he was poor (or Toxteths euphemisms of "hit and miss", "found it tough") for most of last season (y)

Am not doubting the lads ability. I have said he is a good player, capable of being a very good player.

i think i said earlier he really stepped up to the plate after artetas injury. when was that? february?

btw... that was more an analogy for your argument.

I counted 25 assists in 71 starts for us. That really is a superb record.

I might have missed one or two aswell, I'm not sure on that one.

Can't beleive the bad press Pienaar is getting in this thread. Sure, he may not have made as many assists last season as the one before but he's still easily one of our most creative players. His recent form in the Confederation's Cup was sensational and I'm dying to see him back in action for us in August.

Could you show me evidence of this fact please?

From Sky Sports website
Steven Pienaar - Everton

Diminutive playmaker Pienaar has grown as the season has progressed. The South African epitomises the tenacity that manager David Moyes demands from his players. Pienaar has stepped up in Mikel Arteta's absence through injury, helping to assist six league goals. If there is a weakness in his game, perhaps it is a lack of goals from midfield. But two recent strikes demonstrate that he is an improving player.
No chance he had another five assists in the FA Cup.

Think Arteta had 9 assists last season?
