I really don't get this idea that things would fall in place once we buy the right players. Players age or grow all the time that Martinez house of cards simply wont stand the test of time , it's just excuses really

See for the players:

Robles as a backup keeper has improved massively
Mori is adapting to a new league and will improve
Galloway clearly more to come.

Hes not signed any other long term defensive solutions other than Foulds and Holgate to come through. He has ised his money on midfield and attack so next is defence and keeper.

In midfield Besic has improved drastically and also McCarthy even when doing Barrys donkey work and being out of position has looked great and the stats dont lie.

He has also developed many more of our players so its the opposite of a house of cards isnt it?

He is signinf and bringinf througg inexperienced players for the long term...by doing this short term results will clearly suffer.

Not very few players near or at their peak so I guess that demostrates the youthful side suffering short term but I can't imagine say a decent experience center back is gonna change much imo. Martinez has done a great job at building a great team and giving younger players room to grow but the talent is up there already, Martinez may be on to something if they are becoming world class players but it's already asking a lot , where as he could actually focus on getting the results right.

How have the bolded players played enough to make these statements. I mean if you said Barkley, Rom, you may have a case, but what about Stones, Mirallas, Jags, Howard, Baines, players who have gone backwards or is it just because they're too old (bar stones). Our problem has been defence and if you're changing a team bit by bit- you'd sort the foundations first. I imagine Rom becoming available may of scuppered a bit of his planning, but the team of youngsters won't want to stick around whilst we languish in the lower half. We have the majority of England's back line and theye conceed at a rate of knots. They DON'T train on defensive set pieces. From Baines mouth. Unforgivable..

Stones hasn't gone backwards, he made great strides and suffered the kind of setback you'll always see in young, hyped-up players. Jags is still great, Mirallas is an infallible god of players if you read most GOT posts and Howard... Well, he's 48 or something, he's had his day. Baines is a bit harder to explain, but they could be taking it easy on him since his injury.

It's hyperbole on my part mimicking Zat's statements I've bolded.

Phil Jagielka holds off Gary Cahill - as he did the rest of Chelsea's team

Whatever has been said of Phil or his captaincy previously his performance and leadership yesterday was first class and his commitment to the cause can never be questioned, the photograph with Cahill epitomises this.
