Phil Jagielka

There's no leadership mate. He's a church mouse. Imagine someone like Kompany or Terry failing to galvanise this collapsing defence so often.

He's a disgrace to the captaincy. Strip him of it and give it to Coleman or even Besic.

For a start seen both do quite a lot of that this season, never mind the fact that a lot of our poor form Jags wasn't even on the pitch!

Tbh that sums up a lot of your posts Dave, doesn't seem to be convincing many people on the forum and not sure it would work any better on the pitch ;)

When you've been watching Mertens have you been impressed by Kalidou Koulibaly?

I'm starting to think that we could do with a new CB now due to Jagielkas age and there being a couple of seasons then to bring the u21 centre backs through.

Galloway 19
Stones 21
Mori 25
Jags 34 (at season start)

I also agree with @davek about Jags not being vocal. Theres different types of captains and i prefer a very vocal one, the best always seem to be dont they?

Anyway this Koulibaly has been linked heavily in the summer and can play LCB / RCB / RB and DM so could be ideal for us to bring in and send Galloway on loan + could also cover for Coleman while Kenny comes through.

Mori still adapting and improving, Stones still developing and Jagielka coming to a stage of the unknown now...

Agree we'll probably need an experienced CB in the summer just because of the age profile of our CBs.

Tbh not noticed Kalidou much, must have been focusing on other things, but he has a superb name, will make sure to watch him closer next time!

He is a pathetic captain, he no sort of leader on the pitch whatsoever. When Mirallas was sent off West Ham had a load of players around the ref whilst Jagielka stood in our half with hands on his hips, miles away from the scene. Noble was in the bloke's ear all day, Jagielka meanwhile says nothing during a game yet runs to the papers afterwards to moan when it's too late.

New manager and new captain please.

On the phone so a bit tough to find his stats but one of the websites linked off newsnow showed his games this and last season for Napoli and clean sheets when he played and didnt play etc....

There were alot of clean sheets when he played...so after all these links i havent watched him for 90mins and hold my hands up as ive only seen him on youtube and a couple of times for not long when a games been on and ive had to do something else after a while....

But having said that he looks amazing on youtube and his stats too.

Need someone whoever it is to add more competition as i dont think its coaching now i think its complacency and lack of backbone which is why the defence seems to melt.

We really don't need new players we need something else

We DO need new players as were turning off after 80mins ish. Yesterday playing 2/3 of a game with 10 men probably shattered them all but the crosses come in near the end of games and we concede...yet during games until 3/4 of the way through we look good.

As the captain whose marshalling the defence it should be Jagielka being vocal with Mori, Stones and Robles during games but hes very quiet most of the time.

I do rate jags but being objective here, Martinez has changed the attack and almost finished on the midfield barring perhaps 2 players.

Now i think he will cast his eye on the defence:

Left back is fine for next couple of seasons.
LCB -- Mori / Galloway
RCB -- Jags / Stones / Browning/Pennington/Holgate
RB -- Coleman / Kenny

I think he will loan out all of the young players and bring in another centre back who can also play right back.

Would be ideal actually to have Galloway and the rest getting regular games and also a spot will open in a season or two when Jags hits 35/36.

Alot depends on Jags/Stones actually at RCB as after the baptism of fire this season for Mori and Galloway they now have shown that with more experience they are both great signings by martinez....now he needs to sort the others out.

Today was happend before without jags, I guess you could argue about Barry but to me it's 95% the managers fault.

I really don't get this idea that things would fall in place once we buy the right players. Players age or grow all the time that Martinez house of cards simply wont stand the test of time , it's just excuses really
