He'd link up well with new signing Keiron Dyer and would provide service to Saha.

Imagine it, Dyer, Hargreaves and Saha all fit at the same time.

Maybe worth buying for spare organs or something.

Because the club and Saha both said it was PAYP aggreement, maybe?
No they didn't. Upon signing Saha said he would have forfeited any wages owed to him during time spent recovering from injury, such was his desire to sign for the club. The club then said that though they appreciated the sentiment they were happy to offer Saha normal terms.

The phrase 'pay-as-you-play' was used alot around the time he signed for us but that was referring to the fee we paid Man Utd for him, which was in installments contingent on him making a certain number of appearances up to a maximum of £2m.

Correctamundo.......or correnctamundinho if you prefer....

Saha made that statement -- I don't know if he believed that to be a genuine offer to the club BUT it's banned by the FA.

On top of that there are some players such as Redondo and Onyewu (I think) who have signed contracts to pay for minimum wage in the past....However that was never the case with Saha and has yet to be done in the premier league.

We got him for nothing, only paid a fee if he reached a certain number of games. Saha offered to play for nothing.

Could you not pay someone say £1k a week in wages and then have 20K apperence fee. This would in effect become a pay as you play deal. Only a thought? Still a contract and a weekly wage!

actually Exteberria and Onyewu have both played for free granted Exteberria was to repay the fans and had nothing to do with injury but Onyewu played for free because he missed a full season through injury, If it's legal to play for free then it must be legal to pay as you play as long as the player consents to refuse the payment of a wage.

http://www.inbrief.co.uk/football-law/footballers-playing-for-free.htm

"Is it legal to do this?

When footballers sign contracts with clubs for their playing services they will be required to sign a standard contract with applies to that league, for example players playing in England in the FA Premier League will be required to sign a standard FA Premier League contract. The same conditions will apply for players playing in Italy as this player does.

Within the standard contract there will be certain clauses and pay will of course come into it but there is no standard clauses on how much a player is paid. If a player opts to play for free it is clearly up to that player to make the decision. "

Mmm interesting stuff zero, thanks. Surely a situation alas Saha would be best, as if didn't work out, no harm done. A yes from me.

This is from today's Guardian, just to confuse the PAYP issue:

"Redknapp wants to give the central defender Jonathan Woodgate a pay-as-you-play deal and he intends to discuss the matter with Levy. The chairman, though, is nervous about keeping Woodgate because of his well-documented injury problems."

I'd rather we bring 'the kid' back, even with his ridiculously looking new hair.

This hasn't actually been in a paper or rumoured, but I saw this lads been let go by Man Utd, presumably because of his injury problems, which admittedly are very bad and extended, BUT when he's fit I won't apologise for suggesting that he's possibly one of the world's finest midfield players, So the question is would he be worth taking the risk on on say a pay as you play contract?, yes would be my opinion.

only if he comes with a runner

The man with five nationalities has been looking for a new club since his release from United.

Yeah, I know he's crocked but didn't everyone say that about Saha?

Sign him up Davey!
