Overrated Everton Players

I won't make many friends here, but for me it's Yakubu. He would score hat-tricks against teams like Fulham, but he seldom scored against a top side for us. No goals against the RS, Man United, Arsenal, for example. He failed to score, and missed a vital penalty against Fiorentina, and would often have barren spells. In his last season he more or less stopped trying. I'm not denying that he had many good games, but he is a player who didn't fulfill his potential for us. We paid £11M for him and sold him for £1.5M, which says something about him.

Baines still is a great player, Pienaar was found out a few seasons ago.
Disagree, injuries started to take hold a few seasons ago rather than being found out, in the few occasions hes made it onto the pitch since, he has still been extremely influential

Said more about us tbh selling for 1.5, pure stupidity giving him away so cheap

Please tell me this is a WUM ? He single handildly kept us up when he came on loan, forever changed the perception of Everton as a racist club, making it viable for non white players to be comfortable playing for Everton.

Legend .

When I say I couldn't finish that sentence it's because the idea that Campbell is overrated by anyone physically hurts me. First player to sign something I owned. Legend.

He was fantastic until he knackered his leg and was never the same after. I don't think he was overrated.

Tim Cahill (runs and hides)
Leon Osman
Kevin Maralles
David Weir
David Unsworth
Duncan Fergusson (runs and hides again) - more so for his ability. As a talisman, fighter and all round guy he's top class.

Ian Snodin. Won a title medal and chose us over the RS so I never disliked him.just felt he never did enough to justify him being a big favourite with the crowd.

I don't get the Weir shouts. He was always dependable from what I remember and was hardly over hyped by fans either. Also... Tim Cahill was brilliant. And Big Dunc was actually pretty talented when he wasn't throwing people about.

Fellaini was massively overrated as a central midfielder, he is a great forward though. McCarthy is overrated, as is Besic given the evidence so far.

It's true. Everton fans overrate him. Of course we all loved him for all those reasons and more : it was wonderful to see him rise up to head in those Hinchcliffe corners. But he was never in the top league of strikers, not even of Everton strikers.
