Overrated Everton Players

He's right though. You're allowed an opinion yes, but some people's opinions are just so woefully misinformed. If I came out and said "Messi is crap" and people rightly called me ridiculous for it, I couldn't really justify it by saying "well that's just my opinion, I'm entitled to it"

Hmmm, not entirely right. Opinions are a personal thing.

See the Neymar is Crap thread for a good example. There is no wrong or right. If I think Hibbert is boss and you don't. It's not right or wrong.

But opinions can be wrong though mate, that's the thing, whilst they're peoples personal beliefs, those beliefs could still be wrong.

It's like people who believe the queen / heads of state are lizard creatures, they truly believe that, that's their opinion.. but they're still wrong.

Nah. Facts and opinions are different things.

But to have an opinion you should be able to back it up with logic and reason, otherwise it's just meaningless. You can't just say "Martyn is overrated" without giving a reason why, and expect to be taken seriously in a debate

You're right, yet wrong. Football is an objective thing; players and teams produce tangible performances and results. It's entirely possible to be wrong with an objective opinion.

It's not really possible to be wrong with a subjective opinion though. I might think a certain piece of art is rubbish, but somebody else might think it's great, neither of us would be wrong.

American like this one!

I know what you mean and Aaron of course. It would seem nuts for someone to not rate Messi. But if they did i'm sure they'd have to have a reason.

So for the ones in this thread that Aaron doesn't agree with i'm sure the people who chose them had valid reasons. You don't have to agree of course. But they're only horrific shouts to you or Aaron in this case.

Hey, I used to have same situation with Gibson about 2-3 years ago

I've always thought he was alright, but nothing more than that

I swear people used to go about him like he was the next Paul Breitner on here sometimes

You'll probably get a few who will agree with you

I just bloody love Jimmy Mac. I enjoy a perfect McCarthy tackle more than I enjoy a goal sometimes

Reckon McCarthy's fallen a victim of Barry being boss again, then the more flashy players being boss too. It's well known that Evertonians need someone to moan about, considering Kone's come good, Naismith and McGeady aren't playing anymore and Barry's good again mean that they need someone new to moan about. He's still one of our best players in my opinion, we'd really miss him if he got injured.

I hate defensive midfielders. Like really hate them. They are the anti footballers.

But, I do understand the need for them.

So I'm glad we have a few ones good at it.
