I’ve just watched the videos of what they did to Tyre Nichols. I won’t link them here as they are horrendous but I think it is important for it to be out there if you can stomach watching it so you have an idea of what is going on. Those officers need to go away for life. There were five of them, they had control of the situation. And yet they beat him like a piñata. I know that is a horrible way to put it but it’s what they did. They all took their shots. He’d been tased and pepper sprayed. And now he’s dead. You could tell it would be bad given they fired them and charged them so quickly. But even knowing that it doesn’t quite prepare you for how bad it is.

Completely inhuman. Five fellas, big fellas, too, against a tased, pepper sprayed man who weighs the same as my wife and was knackered after running for his life trying to get back home to his mother.

If you seen kids doing what they did to a guy dummy you'd be disgusted, but an actual living thing, a human, words can't even describe it tbh.

Poor Tyre Nichols. Rest in Power.

Maybe, although it should be said that an awful lot of the reporting on that case is shameful - every report mentions the ethnicity of the victim but very few of them (even when photos of the cops are present) mentions the ethnicity of the five sacked cops.

Also I do have extreme doubts about sackings of this kind - its very easy for departments to do to "control the narrative" and be seen to do something but to do it so quickly, and when they'll no doubt seek to fight any wrongful death suit aimed at them?

Still hold the same view now the footage has been released?

The officers have already been fired and charged with murder, an unusually prompt response in this sort of situation

Anyone with decency feels awful for the poor lad involved but that wasn't the point of my post was it.

I'm simply bemused by the blatant racist hypocrisy in our society. If that were 5 white cops involved they'll be absolute pandemonium on our streets.

Grim video. Incredible that such overweight, out of shape fellas can be cops. One of em was blowing out of his arse after running for 60 seconds.

Looked more like a mob beat down than it did a lawful arrest.

A decent response against the officers from the Memphis police department, swift and decisive enough that Tyre’s lawyer and step father praised their actions, and very dignified and reasonable from his mum, to call for calm and peaceful protests.

The saddest bit for me what him crying for his mother. Can't imagine what she is going through seeing that.
