Official: "Neville to leave the blues"

Saddened by some of the comments towards him in here today. He is still a member of the squad and regardless of his ability always plays for the shirt, a few would do to take his example.

People pay money to see the game. If they want to be happy that one of the most limited footballers in Evertonian living memory is finally leaving the club, then they have every right.

Respect for his ability and respect for him as a person are two entirely separate thing. For Everton on the field, this is fantastic news.

How do you explain that we get more points with him in the side than him not playing, mr Everton?
I am far from Mr Everton you patronising little prick. But as an Evertonian for that long I have a right to an opinion.
I cant explain how are results are better all I can explain is what I seen with my own eyes. He might of missed games against top clubs I couldn't care less I am elated at this news and every blue I've spoke to is too

Phill Neville is model professional and I wish him all the best, wherever he goes and whatever he does.

Thank You for all your years of service captain Phil!

Phill Neville
Superstar
Got more medals than Steve Gerrard
No point singing that to be honest, it's a bit embarrassing knowing that he captained our club in one of the most barren spells of our existance by not winning a trophy or even coming close (one final, Chelsea played us off the park) in almost a decade.

Leave that one to the Mancs.

It says a lot that the people who have written more than 3 lines not containing silly insults and expletives are the ones who are appreciative of his service for us. Says a lot indeed.

i'm still cringing at being reminded Gerrard has won a Champions League, FA Cup, UEFA Cup and League Cup and trying to think of a current Everton player who has won anything.

Phil Neville wasn't all that as a player, and he wasn't a great captain. He didn't add a winner's mentality to the team, and he didn't lead by example. He saw us as an over-achieving small club, and for that I am certainly not grateful.

Best of luck Phil, always showed pride whenever he wore the shirt and the armband. Committed pro, looked after himself and also showed a terrific amount of passion for EFC.

Anyone who follows Phil on twitter will also know that his is a very funny bloke, I always chuckle whenever I watch the Tim Cahill dvd and Neville jumps infront of the camera proclaiming "money grabber"

you're a sad, angry man.

Not one single person here, even those who like him most, have suggested he shouldn't leave.
It's almost universally recognized that it's the right action for both parties.

Yes you're entitled to your opinion, one which is in line with the majority in this instance--- But the way you're putting them across, neglecting the positive attributes of a decent captain and a good man for the club you love, reflects terribly on you.
shameful.

Some right whopper responses in here tbh. Short memories.

The right time for him to leave, unquestionably, but he's been a fantastic servant to the club and a great captain. Good luck to him.

I agree totally, I know where people are coming from. Like I said not his fault he gets picked and I don't think he deserves to be abused when he has given his all.

I think he should be thanked for his service that's all.

The writing was on the wall after the Wigan, but good luck to him a great servant to the club

Quite rightly hauled off, but I do hope that isn't his lasting memory for us.

Bring him on when we're four up against the ****e, Hibbert too, **** it, even bring Stubbs out of retirement and partner Stubbs and Hibbert at the back to add insult to injury.

We'd probably scrape it 4-3, but it'd be worth it.

Thanks for the effort Phil, but ultimately you weren't good enough for a long time for us. A good man, an honest pro, but received far too much favouritism from the manager.

How do you explain that we get more points with him in the side than him not playing, mr Everton?

maybe because we play against different teams !

We drew against Spurs on sunday and Neville didnt play - we beat wigan in the league and Neville did play = more points with Neville in the side than not in the side.
Maybe we would have beaten Spurs with Neville in the side, maybe we would have lost - but as no one knows then no one can possiibly say we get more points with him in the side
A complete nonsense of an argument I'm afraid

shameful.

Certainly not sad and certainly not angry, over the moon in fact. For me he hasn't done one positive thing since he signed and certainly was not a decent captain. I stated my feelings and was abused, if that makes me sad and angry so be it.
