Can he take Hibbert and Osman with him?

6 million a year saved on wages. We could sign a good player with that.

At Everton we appreciate hard work, a desire to win, no shirking of responsibility and professionalism, so we appreciate Phil Neville's contribution. Let's not forget, he's not and wasn't an Evertonian and yet trained and played like one, imo. That tackle on Ronaldo against his old club summed him up.
I appreciate hard work from the players, but also believe it should be a given fact week in week out that our players give it their all.

You are one sad individual.
No I'm not mate im a 31 year old blue who has been going the match since 18 months old, watching that phoney steal a living for 8 of them years. I want the best for my club, he was one of the worst players I have seen in my lifetime consistently bad every single week. The biggest myth in football is he is a good captain because he is Mr Nice, worst captain in our proud history. Maybe he is leaving as he is gutted were outperforming his standard that we should be delighted with top 10.

He never gave anything less than his best for us. I hope people remember that.

couldn't agree more.

I've always thought it would be a good idea to keep him on in some kind of coaching / manager's role particularly as United (which let's face it is still his first love) don't 'evolve' from within.

What makes you think them two are on 60k a week each?

Uh?

Neville must be on about 45, with Hibbert and Osman at least 35k a week imo, especially after 10 years of service.

115,000 x 52 weeks = 5,980,000 a year.

Nobody is on 60k a week from those three... I hope.

Saddened by some of the comments towards him in here today. He is still a member of the squad and regardless of his ability always plays for the shirt, a few would do to take his example.

How do you explain that we get more points with him in the side than him not playing, mr Everton?

Thought you meant just Hibbert and Osman. That's why I said two.

Why are you using this thread to make this point?

Neville leaving > Saved wages > How else to save wages > Sell ****e players > Osman and Hibbert > Sell both > Save more wages.

It all boils down to the initial point.

Phil Neville was someone who never played with less than 100% effort and determination, and although a limited technical player his versatility has at times been important.

His and Moyes professionalism and dedication marked a sea change in Everton's professionalism, training and team spirit that was much needed after the Smith era. You hear from recently signed players that he was always taking them out or inviting them round his gaff, and a lot of his work at the club probably goes unnoticed.

He was never going to be a world beater, and has probably played 1 or 2 seasons too long. However I hope we remember the good in him, and that his abiding memories of Everton are not being booed against Wigan or him and his missus receiving abuse from blues on twitter.

As a side note, this is kind of an end of era thing. He's the last of the Moyes "2nd Squad" that was put together with the Rooney money. Arteta 2 seasons ago, Cahill last season now Neville.

Also think this means Moyes is staying, otherwise why'd he be making the decision on whether Neville would be getting first team games next season? Surely they'd have left it up to a replacement to decide who to keep
