It's like every Christmas and Birthday rolled in to one isn't it lads? Best day ever.

The official Everton Facebook page actually makes for better reading than this today. Now that's just embarrassing.

We've a better squad without him in it and with 2 million pounds more money.

I think we all saw it coming and it's a good servant who's leaving who always did his best but it's not bad news by any stretch of the imagination.

Hes been a great servant to the club and he always gave 100% on the pitch, but I still think that this season damaged his reputation, so I'm not surprised to see the negative comments against him.

But overall I think he has been an important part of the team, due to his defensve abilities and leadership. And I hope that he can continue in lower divisions and maybe do some coaching there, before he return to the club as a part of the coaching staff in the future.

Thank you Phil.

He's an absolute pro.
Intelligent, passionate, dedicated-- you can see in the way he interacts with colleagues, young or old, that he was fully immersed in the club, put in the shifts, and helped develop Everton's professional culture during the Moyes era.
Almost every new signing at the club comments on how Neville goes out of his way to make people feel at home, and I really feel as far as personalities go, his leaving us will leave a void that will be difficult to fill.
Yes he was past his prime as far as his performances go, but he is our captain, and he loves the club. I hope everyone sends him a fantastic send-off, and sing for him as they should. He deserves it.

That's not really the point for me though. It's the total lack of respect that some people are showing to the man who has led our team out nearly every week for the last 5 years.

Anyway. Opinions and all that...

He should do what Gary did and just retire now. Mid-season now the penny has dropped his legs have gone. otherwise he's just taking money for nothing out of the club...

Thanks for the service, now off you go. No room for sentiment from me. OUT!

I could captain the club with immense pride and would give 110% each week, I'm sorry but I expect a lot more than that from a PL player, let alone our captain.

At Everton we appreciate hard work, a desire to win, no shirking of responsibility and professionalism, so we appreciate Phil Neville's contribution. Let's not forget, he's not and wasn't an Evertonian and yet trained and played like one, imo. That tackle on Ronaldo against his old club summed him up.

Agree with this completely. I think Cahill leaving last summer was also a loss for the same reason.

Im sure most of the responses on here are people just 'popcorning'. I for one have nothing against him. I wish him well. He gave his all for the club, granted over last 18 months he has not been good enough. But if i remember rightly earlier on the season we averaged more pooints per game with him in the side than any other player. I think he was a good leader on the pitch if im honest. Good luck to the lad
