I thought he was a pretty good captain actually. Clearly past his best as a player though.

I didn't think he was a good captain. He was constantly one of our worst performers over the past two and a bit years and yet still got given the armband. I know, not his fault, but he was still captain while being by far the worst player.

I appreciate he was a good right back at the start of his time with us, but he quickly lost his ability and became a liability.

A good pro, but for me not a good captain, and nowhere near Premier League level since about 2011.

He's made more appearances for United, 263 for United and 242 for Everton in the premier league. The 303 figure must be counting all his other games.
