He starting to remind me slightly of Beattie. You knew the goals were in him initially (based on previous form) but that gradually turned to hoping they were, then doubting they were and then knowing that they weren't. We just need to hope he picks up before the end of the season, the crowd are still with him now, but eventually they'll turn on him if he keeps playing like he is.

The miss was crazy. Not only did he balloon it over but if he got that shot right the keeper would have tipped it over anyway. It was begging to go either side of the keeper.

He scores the majority of his goals on instinct. Given time to think he almost always gets it completely wrong.

You can forgive a striker for having a bad scoring spell and you won't get too unduly worried.. but it's not just that his general performances have been woeful too.

When did he last score... Spurs? Has Moyes turned him into the new Saha spending most of his time on the flanks leaving nobody upfront?

I'm literally willing him on. It certainly is too much running the channels and chaseing the ball down. Last season he was more of a luxury player. Who didnt really move off the last man and just stroked. the ball in at virtually 100% rate.

This is either a long loss of form or hes been told to do more than be a striker. His goal record at Rangers and when he first came here leaves it with no other explaination. Glad to hear the fans getting behind him yesterday though.

Just thought though, what could cause a drop in form?

-player injured, but playing with injections.
-player unhappy with wages / contract
-personal issues ( see Drenthe )
-player struggling to adjust after being instructed to change his playing style?
-other players not providing the same service

Anyone got anymore? Narrow it down and it goes a little way to explaining why the boss slotter is not slotting.

With all respect his goal record at Rangers accounts for nothing because of the standard of football up there.

I firmly believe he peaked in those first 5 months, that's fine because it was always going to be highly improbable he'd maintain that level of form. It's just worrying what we're left with at the moment, I'm not buying all this "working the channels" nonsense. It's as simple as he's playing badly and looks shot for confidence.
