He is a class finisher who has lost a bit of confidence.

Oh no wait! I mean he is really ****e lad, not fit to wear the blue shirt, Dixie would be turning in his grave etc etc

i think moving felli behind him has hampered his game.

Yeah, most of the players seem to be aiming for fellaini, which really the midfielders should be getting the ball to jelevic in the box, would like to see us move fellaini back in mid and see how we get on.

It was always going to happen. Fellaini is doing a "Steve Watson" by playing so far up - not his natural role or best position, not even close.

It won't change though, it never does unless an injury occurs and Moyes falls upon the magic formula by accident - which is how the Fellaini experiment started in the first place.

Possibly the most telling comment on this game was made shortly after the final whistle when that vastly experienced follower of Dutch football and current Fulham manager Martin Jol said “I have never seen the boy Drenthe play on the right before, never!”

Same with Fellaini up front, Rodwell right wing, Barkley left wing... Even yesterday against United he switched Mirallas and Pienaar round for no particular reason.

Why can't Moyes just play people in their natural positions? Baffling...

Maybe this is the answer. There's a strong belief that Fellaini is better used as a holding, defensive midfielder. And let's face it, our defence has been very brittle this season, and that would help to plug the hole.

OK, we would only get Fellaini's goals at set pieces, but if it meant Jelavic getting those scoring opportunities instead it would be
a win-win.

I know that won't happen but I'd try anything to get the old Jelavic back and Moyes can't just let things drift along and hope for the best.

Fellaini holding midfielder? Take a look at who had scored the important goals this season . Without Fellaini s goal we would struggle to stay in the league. We have no goal threat from midfield: Osman and Pienaar surely have the weakest shot in the premier league. Jelavic is badly out ot confidence . Anichebe is one trick pony and does last only 50 min most of the time . Shut down Fellaini and Baines like Man U did and Everton has NO answer what so ever. Moyes could try Velios Duffy .. and co but that would need some cojones...

.....

Jelavic is being asked to do exactly what he did last season, so to blame his poor form on Moyes asking him to press a defender when we've not got the ball is a bollocks excuse.

He's merely lacking a bit of confidence & for me he's thinking about it, rather than merely being instinctive in front of goal. He'll get it back it's just a matter of time.

He's not. He's clearly working the wide areas far more. Not acknowledging that is lunacy.

Chasing down a full back you mean? I've not noticed any difference in what he's doing in the lone striker role. What's that got to do with him fluffing his lines in front of goal anyway?

Don't mean to be rude but I'd just be typing the same thing again!

I don't agree that he's being asked to do anything different to last season mate, sorry I just don't see it.

The only thing he doesn't regularly have when playing with Fellaini off him, is the sight of someone getting beyond him, both giving him an option & potentially creating space for him. I'd like to see him & Victor given a chance to play as a pair.

A couple of weeks ago I think against Southampton we saw Jelavic miss an open opportunity from an Anichebe cross.Last season that would have been buried and next season it will be buried, but for some reason he is struggling at the moment.

It is down to confidence. There have been a number of similar chances, against Utd yesterday he had a shot saved by De Gea,but Jelavic didn't have any great conviction in the shot,it didn't look as if he believed he could score.
Once he gets a few goals again ,he will be fine,it's not tactics or formation. It's a player struggling with his game.
