Nikica Jelavic

I don't agree that he's being asked to do anything different to last season mate, sorry I just don't see it.

The only thing he doesn't regularly have when playing with Fellaini off him, is the sight of someone getting beyond him, both giving him an option & potentially creating space for him. I'd like to see him & Victor given a chance to play as a pair.

If you can't see how much Jelavic has been on the wing compared to last season you can't have watched him much last year.

'Running the channels' could be a musical about Moyes.

Once he gets a few goals again ,he will be fine,it's not tactics or formation. It's a player struggling with his game.

I really don't get this cliché, he's already got 7 goals to his name this season so why hasn't he gone on this supposed confidence-filled run of slotting all over the shop?

It's probably because you can't score 30 yards away from goal on the left wing.

I watched him every week, same as this year, thanks x

In that case, you might need an eye test.

How people can ignore the history Moyes has with strikers and lump the blame on them instead is beyond me. He's done the same thing for years. Every striker he's signed has been shoehorned into the Marcus Bent role, regardless of whether or not it suited them.

So every striker Moyes buys just so happens to turn poo in their second season and its all the strikers fault? That's effectively what you're saying.

Utter bollocks.

Our formation this season is the same as last. He's playing the same role in practically the same side, he's just missing chances that last season he was smashing in. To blame Moyes & this mythical destruction of strikers reputation his detractors have labelled him with, is ridiculous imo.

So their perfomances in their first seasons are in spite of him then? but a drop off in season 2 is all down to Moyes? nice logic, lol.

When a striker joins a team they usually get the freedom to express themselves, because it takes time to fit into a team's system. That's when you'll normally see the best a player has to offer. Same thing happened with Cisse and Ba. The difference is that those two are being used properly, and they're still scoring.

Quite simply they come in and do their own thing the first season, and the second he's had a full pre season to drill into them to run the channels. I'm genuinely surprised you haven't spotted the pattern mate.

Cisse got 13 in 14 games last season, he's got 5 in 24 this, Pardew must have ruined him......

lol, so they get no instruction or coaching in the their first entire season, it takes a year for them to be given any specific intructions?

Precisely.

It's beyond coincidence with the amount of strikers it's happened to, and I only need my own pair of eyes to see how Jelavic's game has changed over the last 12 months.

Conversely, I've seen midfielders improve under Moyes time and time again. My theory is that they benefit from his "box to box" philosophy, in that everyone has to attack and defend so they become more dynamic. But it doesn't work for strikers, and Moyes clearly has a "one size fits all" approach to attacking that has been proven not to work.

The proof? Cahill and Fellaini, midfielders shoehorned into attack and used as the focal point, tells you all you need to know about the Moyes attacking method. We need the manager to be more flexible and dynamic in his tactical choices.

Nope, he was forced out wide while Ba was playing the lone striking role, which is why he's scored less.

Jelavic also ends up playing wide, despite being a lone striker.

I suppose all those shouts of 'get in the box' from our fans are all delusional.

Am I right in thinking that the argument is as follows: If you chase a ball into the corners during a game rather than just waiting in the middle, you can no longer score the sitters that arrive throughout these games?
