Play the ball to his feet. Play some through balls. Don't hoof it to him.
We did all right with that approach from January-May, so I'm not sure why we're so reluctant now. Without Fellaini in the team the aerial approach is just criminal. Jelavic isn't Fellaini -- he won't pick a 60 yard ball out of the air and turn it into a chance.
But Fellaini isn't Jelavic. He won't make a superb, defensive-splitting run and stroke the ball into the net with the finesse of a master painter.
I think with Mirallas or Osman behind Jelavic and Felli playing a box-to-box role Jelavic would bang a lot more in. Ultimately though a lone striker lives and dies by his midfield. Not just creativity-wise, but without support he becomes isolated. We got men up to support him with all the promptness of an iceberg yesterday. Regularly I'd see 5 or 6 Norwich players get back to defend before 1 or 2 other blue shirts arrived.

Vellios atleast deserved 20mins yesterday because Jelavic is way off form.

I would have played Vellios alongside Jelavic to be honest. Might have left him less isolated. And the aerial bombardment might have yielded some results.
That is my worry if I'm honest
