The problem is that Moyes has no intention of playing him. Moyes is the problem here, not Barkley. Nearly every other manager I can think of wouldn't do that with a youth player.

And coincidentally, we have a success rate of one in producing proper first team players from the youth team since Rooney - which was Rodwell. 1 first team player making the jump in 9 years. Failure by any standard you want to set.

Anyway, COYB!

Hard to argue with that!

We need to do to these guys what Chelsea did to us last week. That's what teams who are challenging for the top 4 do.
Its good to see isn`t it.Even when we were behind last night i knew it wasn`t over. Were a decent side this season and we can give anybody in the league a tough game. What a goal by Baines, consistently our one truly world class player.Great result and fixtures look a bit easier now for a few weeks.Could be a nice little run on the cards(but this is Everton so we know the rest).

That was a nervy game wasn't it?

It was great to get the result and according to Sky, our first back to back away wins since 2011. I just found watching it absolutely exhausting, the way we play at the moment we like to defend a one goal lead, which never looks comfortable and I think its one of the reasons we have drawn so many this season. From the moment we took the lead on 60 mins it was then a 36 minute defending job till the final whistle, which we managed through a combination of good defensive play and some good fortune as well. I would have prefered it if we had made the game 1-3 and then there would be no way back, but we had a busy Christmas period and some of the lads looked tired in the last half hour

The Eagle & Child - is that the one up in Rainhill/Prescott area? Used to know a couple of boss blues who drank in there if it's the same alehouse.

And as for the Quiet Man - that flag in Mexico 86 was legendary

When he came on against Chelsea I was shocked. He normally doesn't get on the pitch in a meaningful situation, like when we need an equaliser. Mind you, our bench was not the strongest so maybe Moyes felt he had no choice. When Barkley was on, I thought he looked nervous and tentative, as if he had an imaginary Moyes in his ear screaming at him not to lose the ball...which he did more than once. You can't play if you are crapping yourself about trying anything.

Compare Barkley against that Hughes lad at Derby - he is 17 but swaggers around the pitch as if he has balls like watermelons. Wouldn't mind us taking a punt on him (finances allowing) but spending the next 5 years in our reserves probably isn't a great career move for him.

Send Barkley out on loan or give him more game time. Bench warming isn't doing anyone any good.

I didn't see anything wrong with it. He went for the ball and his eyes were on it. As a matter of fact, I was quite happy with the
ref tonight. Atkinson has always crucified ud us, Well, he did v. L'pool last season and at Reading this.

Actually thought the ref was pretty terrible.....but in a good way! Gave us nearly everything.

This has been shockin. Been completely out fought and out battled. Our right hand side is woeful. Been but apart over that side and no threat going forward. Needs half time changes. Which we wont see.

Funny that, because the commontators on the feed I'm watching were saying that Everton had dominated the first half, and look out Newcastle in the second. And they were right!

Thought Neville had a reasonable game although his lack of pace was well exposed down the right flank towards the end of the game - almost let Newcastle in. Baines was immense, Jelly worked hard as usual and did well for Vic's goal (which was a great move all round). Osman had a quiet game compared to recent times. Naismith was just gash. No pace, and poor first touch and control at this level. Unless he has some sort of transformation in the 2nd half of the season, if we don't bin him off in the summer he needs to be on the bench and coming on in meaningless situations. As long as Mirallas' hamstrings are made from elazzy bands, he'll keep on getting a game I suppose.
