New Stadium or Redeveloped Goodison?

I think if re developing Goodison Park into a 50k+ word class stadium with state of the art facilities was a viable option then they'd be no contest, that's what we'd want. People are saying it is possible and it isn't possible, the thing is unless you're an architect and have analysed the stadium in depth then none of us know if the above can be achieved. One thing is certain though, the above is what we need to move forward.

As much as it kills me I'm swaying towards to a new stadium. Not just any old new stadium though. I don't want to buy land and place a big shiny oval tin there and that be that. A lot of planning and thought I hope would have to go into it. Maybe get us, the fans, the heart and soul of the club involved, like the new badge?

Personally, and this is just my opinion, I'd want a new stadium but with all of the characteristics of The Old Lady, the characteristics why we love her so much. Close to the pitch, box style, intimidating, with Dixie Dean and the Holy Trinity statue at the forefront of the stadium standing tall and proud. Give me a blue version, an Everton version, a new Goodison Park version of Borussia Dortmunds stadium and I'd windmill up and down County Road, and yes ... there would be a link.

Also, it's not a quick nor easily achievable option especially if you go down the compulsory purchase order route.

In the end i's their home and they'll probably be reluctant to leave for numerous reasons and looking at making the most of the situation.

Take the first option? Nah. Most of them will haggle and negotiate for the best price for their property thus they could have us over a barrel.

And rightly so, taking the football specs off for a moment and this would just be a big business trying to barnstorm the little people, never ends well; and you can guarantee that at least one family will steadfastly refuse to move no matter what.

In New Zealand our local bodies carry out regular valuations of houses and property. Not sure how it works in the uk but offering a set amount over the crown valuation i.e 30-70% would surely be an appropriate middle ground to come to which would provide appropriate recompense and allow homeowners to find somewhere else to live whilst paying them for the inconvenience.
Backed with a cpo from the local council this would surely be adequate and appropriate.

Just over but I think he's referring to the noticeable four stand design rather than standard bowl designs, steep sides and brilliant atmosphere.

When you go to the Westfalenstadion, you are in an individual end with its own identity and character, rather than a standardised approach.

If you go somewhere likes the Emirates (the new model) it's just all the same; apart from the view everything is exactly the same.

Also, it shows how a stadium can be redeveloped overtime but it had the benefit of being on the outskirts with large spaces around it.

we will order one then, in blue , medium size,delivered to Walton l4 , wonder how much something like that costs , and hope for the younger fans we look into safe standing no matter which way we go with the ground.

The main reason people want to redevelop Goodison is because of their fond memories there as a kid. Which is totally understandable, but everytime this has been looked at its more expensive to redevelop.

I remember someone on the radio saying about the difference between Liverpool and arsenal , arsensl bit the bullet and moved into the emirates a fantastic modern stadium, the s---- dithered and redeveloped. After the new stand is built there will still be no comparison to the stadiums.

This is Everton yesterday we found real hope, lets be progressive and go for what is objectively the best option.

As an earlier poster said IF a c. 50k top specification stadium is possible at GP with council support for house/land purchase then most of us would favour that approach. However, we all know that this will be difficult to achieve and probably more costly.

If we can deliver an equivalent facility at Walton Hall Park or another more central location perhaps 1-2 years faster and say £100m cheaper then it would be very hard to turn away from that.

Of course at this stage we have no idea what plans and priorities Moshiri has. Whatever he does/does not do he will upset some of the fans as this is such an emotive issue.
