New stadium.

If we redeveloped Goodison I would still have that dispiriting walk along County Road or Westminster Road then up Spellow Lane.

A brand spanking new ground needs suitable environs to really look impressive.

I've seen one game at Goodison, sad as that is, and it rocked. It was back in the day when there was that semi circle behind the goals (I bet Tim wishes it was still there!). Anyway, as much as I was only a little bloke at the time, it made an impression.

Here in Oz, the AFL clubs were mostly suburban and had quaint old grounds like Goodison. My Dad used to collect discarded beer cans and build a little platform for me to stand on. There were open areas, standing areas, and many dodgy food outlets that specialised in Salmonella. But those were from days long past. They were the products of an evolving sports organisation. Eventually, the game got bigger than the suburban grounds & dodgy food. It became a corporate juggernaut and is the 'premier' sport in Oz. Being able to command billions in TV rights and professional players & administrators, the powers that be decided that the sport had to evolve. As a result, there are no more matches at suburban grounds anymore. All games played in Melbourne are at the MCG (95,000 seater) or Etihad Stadium, a purpose built indoor stadium (55,000 seater).

Now, I'm not comparing Apples with Apples here, obviously, I'm also not talking ground share either, but the PL has evolved into a massive organisation and that attracts big corporate dollars. At some point, History will not be enough to get a top investor or a new player into our club.

What is one of the most common themes with new signings? Ambition. What is one of the key indicators of ambition? Investment. Everton needs to invest in its future and whilst expanding Goodison would be fine, if it can be done without causing grief to the local residents, a new ground would be the smoothest way of doing it.

I'd love to stay at Goodison and have it redeveloped, but a part of me says new investment, new stadia, new start (not forgetting our history of course).

Lads.... isn't ace to actually have realistic options ??????????
It's quite boss that this issue which has hung over our heads for a long time may realistically be solved one way or the other in the next few years. Well boss actually

Hopefully redevelop Goodison as i love the place!! But if we are to get a new stadium then please don't make it like the Emirates /Wembley, atmosphere just drains from the place.. Build it like Goodison, rectangular with no posts and a bigger capacity!!

Go on tell me. Which ground? I stopped going when Victoria Park finished up.

Start with the Park End; then a season or two later Goodison Road; Bullens Road; then old Glad.

Work to take place during summer.

Big PR campaign with Parliament and the League to have Goodison Road Stand as all standing and its Entrance Fee set for 10 years at 20 quid and renamed the Alex Young Stand.

Total Capacity set at 65,000 or at least bigger than Anfield.

All these self proclaimed experts in here telling us all the Goodison can't be redeveloped so they "have to then choose a new stadium" are makng me giggle.

Stop accepting the lies the "previous Board" and Bob fed you for a decade.

It can be redeveloped. It is possible and an option.

Make your choice with that in mind please and stop the TrueBlue Holdings and Elstone lies from days long gone for us now. Feels great to be able to say that! ;)

Would love to see Goodison redeveloped, but to me it is the problem of what do the residents want.
To do it on the same footprint doesn't make sense to me, the space for the extra corporates would mean that capacity in the rebuilt Main Stand and Bullens would be reduced. Admittedly this could be offset by a double decker Park End. So you end up with a compromise stadium.
Bigger footprint means building back onto Goodison Road, Bullens Road and at least the car park, so demolishing houses comes into play. If this is to happen, the people who live ther have got to be taken into consideration, listened to and be heavily involvedvin making the final decision.
New ground has an impact on the sirrpunding area, so why not try and identify a site with minimal impact on residential areas - example being move nearer the City centre, work with McBurney's and the businesses on that Nusiness park to see if re-location is possible. You would then have a ground within walking distance of the City Centre, right next to a train station with ample parking on the other side of the road.
Just musings
