New PL rules

This would be brilliant. Imagine the incredible scenes on the final day as the 10 home sides submit how many points they want their match to be worth in sealed envelopes. Read them all out on TV an hour before the game. It would be riveting.

Means you could be bottom of the league on final day and somehow end up in Europe with an unlikely win lol

I was in Germany last week, went to Eintracht Frankfurt on Thursday and SV Darmstadt on the Friday. In the Darmstadt game they were winning 2-0 and hadn't used any subs until the board went up for injury time 3 minutes. They made a sub at 90+1, 90+2 & 90+3! The ball was barely in play during that time and the referee didn't add any extra time on.

The PL may bring in a rule that stops injury time subs, good or bad?? Any other rules you'd like to see? Personally I'd like to see a rule come in that if a player goes to ground "injured" the physio can come on while play continues so the game doesn't stop. It would put an end to fake injury and kicking the ball out of play.
Anything that hinders Sky’s favoured teams basically.

i would introduce var and use the tennis system where each team can only use it a set amount of times during the game and if their VAR review is rejected then they lose the chance to use VAR again

I would also introduce a blanket rule on penalties - once a penalty is saved or if it hits the woodwork then the ball is automatically declared dead and anything that happens afterwards does not count, the game will just resume with a goal kick. That means that there will be no second advantage of a rebound, 2nd corner or a fortunate mishap if the ball hits the bar then the keeper and goes in.

in a penalty shootout you don't get a second bite at the cherry do ya, so why should you during the match?

For the penalty one I’d say that the man who took it cannot score directly from a save. For anybody else running in no problem

Not really - under the current rules, the ball is in play an average of 55 to 60 mins, so in theory it shouldn't make a huge difference if we just had a game clock with 2 x 30 minute halves instead, but time wasting etc would be nullified
This was discussed by Ifab at the end of the 2016/2017 season. I'm sure I read a few months ago that it was up for discussion again this summer just gone. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/40311889

Just have league appointed physios at the game like refs. Teams will still have their own, but if someone goes down injured during the game the official physio will assess them and decide whether they need further treatment from their own team, or can just play on. If they find clearly nothing wrong yellow card. Would stop all the faking injury bs like that.

I’m confused , so a manager is allowed one per half? But loses a sub if he loses? To prevent them contesting everything? Even tho they can only do it once?
My reasoning was it stops needless referrals from managers who are trying to stop the game and disrupt the flow of the game. If they win their appeal they retain their subs if they don’t they lose a sub.

My point was they could only do it once, so can’t really disrupt the game really

Jealous of you

Darmstadt are my 2nd team - heading over there for the game against Ingolstadt in a few weeks since our game has been moved to the Monday night against Watford

There are plenty of rules that need bringing into the 21st Century from these dinosaurs but the more important thing that needs doing is a complete overhaul of the match officials to get rid of the widespread incompetency. Not much chance of that happening though as there isn't much competency in the PL leadership so the officials probably all look great to them. Blind leading the blind.
They should pay the match officials a proper salary.
