It's the closest to how the old one was.

Hi all, i read this forum quite a bit but rarely post (don't think i could handle the abuse on a regular basis!)
I felt the need to post here though as i'm pretty disappointed in what has been presented to us by the club. I think a few others have said that actually prefer the current badge than any of the new offerings and i think that is fair comment which seems amazing after the uproar when it was released.
i think the club are a missing a bit of a trick here though and should use a round badge design if they want to make something modern, digitally friendly and easily reproduced. I know there are plenty of supporters already designing 'better' than what has been proposed by the club and i think any circular design should be the way to go.....GOT are obviously in the know with their logo on this site
- A circular badge is nothing new to Everton, in fact we've had it twice before
- A circle is what it is, unlike a shield fans can't be split on judgement such as it's too wide, too thin or out of proportion
- A circle is the most natural and recognizable shape in the universe (think sun, moon etc) a circle draws in the eye like a target, these are generic marketing facts
- A circle can encompass all the facets of what Evertonians are looking for in a badge without external scrolls and the like that may be missed off during reproduction.
- a circle is clean neat and easily reproduced (see examples below) *ok GOT won't let me post images or links as i haven't made enough postsif someone wants to post this link for me below by copying the text below and then removing all the spaces you will see the image

i think the one thing the club did get right about the current badge is the tower. I've seen plenty of negativity around this but i believe it is the closest representation of the tower we've had. Short/squat not tall and thin with a high pitched roof. I think if you overlayed the current graphic over a picture of the actual tower it would be pretty spot on.
This simple graphic i put together is clean, modern and easily reproduced, it captures everything the fans want (except for a shield that only causes debate anyway)
Chelsea have a similar design and it doesn't seem to have done them any harm in the last decade where they have come from being nobody's to one of the most recognizable teams globally (albeit on the back of buying several trophies along the way)
Well that's my twopence for what it's worth. I will abstain from voting unless i see a fourth option 4) none of the above appear or unless we see a circle option![]()
was more to get everything in. i did another version with the outer ring being white with blue text and looks good ...but i forgot to save it!cheers allen, totally agree with you about the NSNO however i'm not that cleverwas more to get everything in. i did another version with the outer ring being white with blue text and looks good ...but i forgot to save it!
fair comment, but it raises the question of past badges on the shirt. For example the simple EFC and tower of the mid 80's on the shirt never adorned the side of the stadium or posters or programs from memory it was the standard shaped shield that was used. However times have changes and it's about adopting a global image that is plastered across kits, merchandise, press and tv screens etc. Is the fact that so many others have it lend weight to an argument that it works? just playing devils advocate
maybe more of a shift to it being run as a global business (ok don't giggle this is Everton we're talking about) rather than a football club for the local community which is what the club and football in general was founded upon.
it goes hand in hand with corporate boxes and sponsorship/tv money etc.
one day it may (will) all collapse around our ears but until then we risk being left behind, was it Cardiff who radically changed their whole brand a while back including team colours and everything. Has it got them anywhere? who knows but the whole world got to know about it through tv and media
whilst we all take pride in our heritage and uniqueness there must have been a time when someone said hey lets stop playing in black shirts with a pink sash and a leather laced collar....it's progress and change and unfortunately now more so then ever it is hard to stop, even if you believe the club are giving the fans the actual choice to decide the fate of the badge!

i may do that...but only during non transfer window periods![]()
