Netherlands piloting women to play men's football

Opens a can of worms with the outrage mob this. People wouldn’t be allowed to argue their point or criticise without being labelled sexist or misogynistic, such as the way it has become, already seen it in this thread.

My two cents is I don’t see how it helps women’s football as a whole. If you start allowing women to compete in the men’s league then you have to do it the other way and then what becomes of the women’s league? Does it merge into one big mixed gender association?

I think it will make it even harder for women to compete at the highest level. Sure, you’ll get women players who are technically gifted who could compete amongst men no problem, but it’s the physical side of the men’s game especially in the Premier League, especially as a defender that I feel women would come up short in and lose out on.

I don't mind if they try it but it's pretty obvious that a woman will never make it to any high standard.
I remember many years ago I remember, from the age of about 10, playing football with all the other kids and there was a girl who was better than most but by the age of about 14 we had all grown faster and stronger, she seemed to not progress at all (she still had the skill) but quickly fell down the list of the first picks.
Anyway, give it a go as players may get a nice cuppa at half time :p

Also its natural that male players would subconsciously try go "easy" on their female counterparts in terms of pulling out of 50/50 challenges etc. Which makes the whole thing a farce - then when someone does actually go in hard and a female player gets clattered/hurt they'll be outrage and condemnation.

Then as you say - whats to stop a male player wanting to play in the female division in which they'll naturally be one of the better players in that division- how is that fair on the other females?

Its daft but I hope common sense prevails and the authorities dont give in to PC rubbish which has no logic.

Your first paragraph was the subject of much study in the armed forces and is proven false.

What is misogynistic or sexist about the third post you quoted ?

Sweeping generalisation " the women".

And I would be looking at why many teenager girls give up on sport in their teens, when bone density could be rapidly built up... Anecdotally my daughter jacked her medium to long distance running up mainly because she got fed up with men waving their tounge at her when she trained, she simply could not do the miles required to keep up...

If a female can pass the same medical as her male contemporary and has similar footballing ability, don't see the problem of mixed professional football at the highest level.

The army is much different to competitive sports. The gym I go to men and female fighters spar together and you'll either get blokes who naturally go softer in the roll or you'll get ones who try use their size to their advantage and be rough.

Thats not to say every male footballer would go easy or not go lunging in on a 50/50 but there would certainly be a good number who would which makes the competitiveness of the fixture a farce to begin with.

As I said - why not remove weight divisions and just have a free for all in boxing etc.

Its completely baseless and has no logic other than trying to tick box in how awoke we are all.

I'd say it's more because the arguers tend to take it to an absolute extreme. They go from a woman playing at an above average level suddenly to Connor McGregor fighting Ally McBeal.

If a woman is good enough to play in mens league - good on her. You can have things one way without men then having to play in womens leagues.

Ah ok. War not as intense as sport. Gotcha.

Rather you stay asleep tbh.

That’s it. What then happens to the women’s national teams? What about the women who have fought hard in their respective leagues to earn call ups to their national sides and have been a predominant figure there? They somehow find themselves now competing in a lower mixed gender division with less chance to represent their country.

I don’t know, maybe for me it just opens a big can of worms and should be left as it is. If people want to see mixed gender football or any sport I think they should make a separate association for that.

He's referring to women as a sexual classification, it's not a 'sweeping generalisation'.

It is a fact that if women were suddenly competing with men in high level contact sports they would be at an increased risk as result of their physical stature.

No justification for calling him a sexist/misogynist.

Woke not awoke.

Sorry it's been annoying me.

But where is the equality in that? If men want to play in the women’s league why can’t they? Has to be an even playing field.

As I say big can of worms for me.

I do think mixed gender sports will be a thing at some point but not at the expense of our current systems, I think a new association will be formed for this type of thing.
