Netherlands piloting women to play men's football

I don’t know, maybe for me it just opens a big can of worms and should be left as it is. If people want to see mixed gender football or any sport I think they should make a separate association for that.

This is probably the best solution. You could probably do a mixed indoor tournament or something quite easily too.

The army is much different to competitive sports. The gym I go to men and female fighters spar together and you'll either get blokes who naturally go softer in the roll or you'll get ones who try use their size to their advantage and be rough.

Thats not to say every male footballer would go easy or not go lunging in on a 50/50 but there would certainly be a good number who would which makes the competitiveness of the fixture a farce to begin with.

As I said - why not remove weight divisions and just have a free for all in boxing etc.

Its completely baseless and has no logic other than trying to tick box in how awoke we are all.

It’s you who keeps bringing up PC and woke.
This is just a study to see if there’s any viability to it. It could well show that it isn’t viable, it could show that there’s a case for more intensive further study. How can you be angry about that?

But where is the equality in that? If men want to play in the women’s league why can’t they? Has to be an even playing field.

As I say big can of worms for me.

I do think mixed gender sports will be a thing at some point but not at the expense of our current systems, I think a new association will be formed for this type of thing.

The reality is the people calling for this thing will have next to zero experience of playing competitive sports / martial arts to any decent level and are arguing the point based on the basis of "men are not better than women" which is true but that isnt the reason why sports are split by gender.

You dont have the best lightweight boxer in the world fighting heavyweights

You dont have purple belts in BJJ rolling with white belts

You don't have female rugby players trying to throw 18 stone blokes around

There are very logical reasons why and if you throw logic out the window its the day competitive sports is done and you end up with absolute sideshows like "mcgregor vs mayweather" or the old school UFC of the 90's where some 5 foot bloke in a monk gown was fighting some 20 stone galoot from the swamp.

The Dutch football federation have no experience of competitive sport?

Well, several peer reviewed studies indicate that the phenomenon you describe doesnt exist.

I'm sure you'll be able to explain why they're wrong, however.

Are football and MMA not also completely different?

Men and women can spar in MMA

They dont fight each other in MMA

Reason why and its nothing to do with the world being sexist.

They wont be allowing women into the main league anytime soon - im sure women could play at a very low level of mens football - but that doesnt sit right with me "you're only good enough for this level sorry luv"

Thats a bigger insult than anything.

Nope it was the full quote... However, you may have been caught up in my metoriic rise of being earth president, and my latest cause misogyny, if so be thankful you have been touched by greatness!:)
Quotation

And I meant taking from one of my previous posts in the thread, not just a snippet of one post.

Honestly if you want to be earth president (as I once did until my eyes opened and I saw what the inhabitants are truly like) and considered great you really should know when to use quote and quotation. :p

That's the point of the study no? To identify if this is possible.

You seem very threatened by this.

Just because its a "study" doesn't make it absolutely stupid to begin with.

You could do a study on how many females can beat men in an arm wrestling contest and you'll know the answer before the study is even carried out.

Im not threatened I just get angered by the stupidity of society at times - the game of football I love is already on the verge of competitive ruin with big money, VAR and FFP lets completely end it by pitting females against stronger, faster competitors.

If you think Tom Davies is bad to watch in midfield getting overun every game wait until you have to watch his cousin Dorothy.

Are teams going to be forced to play women? That seems to be what you imply.

And my god, imagine a society so stupid that by mutual consent players, a club and a federation engage in a study to find out if you are right in your assumptions. The humanity!

Very slack use of the word mate. I would happily see (& hope to see one day) a woman crowned world snooker champion, F1 grand prix winner, perhaps even a masters golf win?

These sports should give women the ability to compete against men, but even then it's difficult as snooker and golf especially you need the extra power to succeed. To pit a woman against professional athletes in a sport where how fast you can run, for how long, can you challenge against bigger, stronger opposition. FFS look how much we turn on players like Bernard for not coming out with the ball when going into a tackle. It's crazy to even think about unless women flip the whole genetics thing on its head and start running faster, lifting more weights etc. Etc.

I think snooker and maybe darts to a lesser extent are an exception. Not because of the physical differences between males and females but force of numbers.

The number of males who take up and continue to play those sports has always dwarfed the number of females. Because of that you're going to find a larger number with freakish levels of talent which then defines the ability required to play at the top levels. Think of the number of boys who take up darts & snooker and how many ultimately have the ability of someone like O'Sullivan or Phil Taylor.

Until girls participation in those sports begins to match the numbers in the boys game then it's much less likely that those individuals are going to be found among that smaller pool of players so even the top female players are likely to be behind their male counterparts as the chances of a uniquely gifted player coming through are slimmer.

Interesting that when you read the full story the single player involved has played with and against male players right up to U19 level before hitting a barrier where she was no longer allowed to play due to the gender rules at senior level.

If she was in that side on merit then it's quite correct that there shouldn't be an outright ban on her progressing to the next stage with those that she has played with and against for several years.

It’s not a certainty mate but it will open a can of worms within the current “lets be outraged over something” society.

It wouldn’t be long before clubs are being accused of sexism for not playing less talented women over men.

I certainly wouldn’t want our club being dragged through anything like that.
