Ok, I can reveal that Lukaku will be responding to the speculation tonight at some point. Please dont ask me what it is, I dont know. And please dont ask me how I know, I just do.

And that, is in a sentence, how most from "respected local journos" should be judged.

That's what IMHO means Steve

Exactly...and it applies to every poster on here. Including you, and including me. But some stuff, its very hard to see that its even an opinion !! People need reminding that there are not many facts that are 'common knowledge' on here !

So just a year ago we were all getting excited over having one of the best young spines in the league to build around in Stones, Barkley and Lukaku that was going to take us forward to the next level.

Now Stones has been sold, Lukaku is next off imminently and Barkley is entering the last 12 months of his contract with no renewal in sight.

Grim to say the least.

At least the Official club twitter has cheered everyone up with an exciting piece on Valencia possibly extending his stay!!

The only part of the above that is actually true is that Stones has left, and we got £50 million for him. The rest is 'speculation'

Is this an esk level in the know or an actual in the know? :)

Goodnight. God bless?

Sorry, I wasn't intending to criticise you. I just meant some of our fans in general. They seem to delight in saying that Stones, Lukaku, Mirallas, Fellaini, Baines etc will fall flat on their face when they leave because they're not actually that good. People moan that we don't have a winning mentality, but when we have players who say they want to play at the highest level people say they're getting ideas above their station and they'll soon find out they're rubbish - it's bizarre.

I don't think Lukaku is the complete striker, but who is? Not everybody has to be Messi or Suarez, and the likes of Benzema, Higuain, Dzeko, Hernandez etc have done alright for themselves without being that type of player. He isn't just a finisher, he's a good footballer. The assist for Schneiderlin at the weekend was exactly the type of thing people love to say he can't do. He may not win the Ballon d'or, and he may never be seen as one of the real greats of the game, but I just don't see why people think he would be out of place at the highest level when compared to the likes of Cavani, Lavezzi etc.
No worries mate. We're both on the same page where Roms concerned. Guess most of us are a bit tetchy today.

I actually wouldnt swap him for any other striker. I want to see him become world class and I want that to be with us.

Lukaku's replacement.

the contract was never about lukaku staying, it was also the value of his departure

everton wanted 90m, they wanted him to leave for 60m - not it will be a bidding war so we can't lose
