Moshiri On Lukaku Contract Refusal

Regardless of the outcome of this, we should really be avoiding any player in the future that has this bad dog nonce Raiola as an agent.

Utter poisonous clown.

I couldn't agree more, Mike.

The sad reality is though, the higher up the food chain we go the more our transfer targets are like to be represented by this Raiola or fellows of that ilk.

For instance, anyone wanting to sign Zlatan had to first deal this "poisonous clown" :(

I knows its cool/trendy to call agents evil etc but I don't really see what's so bad about how he's acted... like anyone in recruitment he'll do whatever it takes to get his client the best possible deal.

What am I meant to be outraged about ? Him doing his job well ?

Clubs regularly screw over players and try and force them out before their contracts run out (oumar...) but when the roles are reversed the clubs and fans act outraged. It's one of the most hypocritical things in football.

The clubs are saints and the players and agents are evil... thats how clubs spin it because they know their fans are diehard and will back them no matter what.

So just a year ago we were all getting excited over having one of the best young spines in the league to build around in Stones, Barkley and Lukaku that was going to take us forward to the next level.

Now Stones has been sold, Lukaku is next off imminently and Barkley is entering the last 12 months of his contract with no renewal in sight.

Grim to say the least.

At least the Official club twitter has cheered everyone up with an exciting piece on Valencia possibly extending his stay!!

We could win 90 mill. But his agent wants us to cash out at 60 mill. Do we or don't we?considering stones went for 50 then I think we let it ride a bit longer.

This is the feller who said that McCarthy was retained because he was family, Sissoko was done and dusted (denied by everyone else in on that deal), and the Koulibaly deal was agreed.

I'd say his record on players and contracts has been a lot less than "straightforward".

That statement he makes is anodyne. There's nothing other than a restatement of the current situation:

Lukaku is our player - patently that remains the case until and such a time as he's sold
We want to offer him an improved offer - same situation they've been in for 12 months

The only thing that has changed - and it is ENORMOUS - is that the player is now in a very awkward (probably irretrievable) situation with fans having made it plain that the club cant provide him with the platform he requires for his ambitions and the implications are that any agreement will be short term and result in him leaving after 12 months to pursue that ambition.

In short: bridges have been burned.
