Mikel Arteta

The summer he left was our worst transfer window ever. But i remember being chuffed about how we managed to keep hold of Jagielka, letting Arteta leave was kind of expected.

Anyway, I've no reason to believe he should just pop into the managerial role or anything like that. If so, I'd rather have effing Ryan Giggs.

Think guardiola will have possibly known him from way back when arteta was at the barca academy as a kid. Interesting that he went really heavily after getting him to come city though, word is he's very clued up coaching wise
I remember Moyes asking Arteta to work with Barkley and then discussing him with him, so this is something that he looks to have an aptitude for and an interest in for a little while. Intelligent footballer you would think he's got all of the attributes to make a great coach and hopefully a great manager. He definitely had a few offers on the table regarding coaching so big compliment to him and he's obviously highly rated.

Cheated us out of an FA Cup Semi Final

Can do one

No problem with him leaving us, and clapped him many times when he came back, but he crossed a line there

You don't expect favours from ex players, but you do expect them to go about things fairly when they play you at the very least, especially if not provoked

If we'd given him loads of crap and he'd done it, then fine, but we'd always been first class and respectful to him till then and he threw it back in our faces

With Rooney, Lukaku etc, we were on them from the kick off, so of course they'd retaliate. Arteta never had that excuse. He did it because he's an unpleasant, disloyal turd

No ta. He asked to leave the club.

It stops right there as far as I'm concerned.

And that's besides all the other drawbacks.
He asked to leave the club because he knew we had to sell him and that would mean he would forego the extra payment if he hadn't put in a transfer request. You could see how upset he was about it in the interview he did when he left. Make no mistake if he hadn't of gone the bank were coming in and he knew that. He gave us his best years and he deserved a shot at the Champions league and trophies with Arsenal. I don't begrudge him for that at all.

I'd like to know how close we were to being completely broke in that transfer window, tells you how useless the media are that no questions were asked. To not spend a single penny in that window, to snap up a renowned lunatic playboy in Drenthe on loan, big Denis who had allegedly failed a trial at a championship club earlier in the summer to getting basically bullied into selling Jermaine Beckford to a Championship club in Leicester shows you how broke we must have been. And then losing Mikel on deadline day...very depressing time to be a fan.

Unlike most I hold no ill will to mikel, one of the finest footballers to play for us in the prem era, pre injury he was on the same level as alonso, he was that good, I imagine though he is quite happy where he is for the moment
Ability wise he was possibly even better than Alonso but mentally Alonso was light years ahead and that ultimately made him a far better and more successful player

Arteta was sheer class for us right up until about 2010. Took the chance at a CL club when our board was showing even less ambition than usual, captained then and a won a couple of trophies. His antics in that QF were snake like of course but we avenged that at Goodison a month later. Absolutely no bad feelings toward him at all, was superb for us and I'm quite sure he still loves the club.

Wouldn't have him as manager like

Don’t know why we’d go for someone with zero managerial experience when we’ve got Unsworth who at least has managed the U 23s and knows Everton from top to bottom.
