Mikel Arteta

Don't get the rat shouts at all, think some of you are too precious. Arteta was just competitive, he never disrespected the club off the pitch.

He was also one of the best players we've had in the past 20 years. Barmby was a rat. Lukaku is a rat. Arteta is not a rat.

I agree Lukaku is a rat not Arteta.Mikel Arteta was the finest Spaniard (yes that's right Mikel Arteta not Roberto Martinez!) Goodison ever knew.He was a boss player for Rangers as well like.:p

That's my opinion as well, smashed his coaching badges from all accounts. The fact that Pep took him on with no experience tells you a lot. We should be tracking his progress and be ready to move but that will be a few years down the line. Great that he's learning from Pep because I think he's the best around.

i mean badges mean [Poor language removed] all but Arteta's just got it, you can tell.

Can see him now on the sidelines in a suave three piece barking out orders to Tom Davies, the Man City captain

No ta. He asked to leave the club.

It stops right there as far as I'm concerned.

And that's besides all the other drawbacks.

can you blame him? we were beginning to look realyl dog turd and Arsenal came in for him, he gave us his best years, he was 29 and a title challenger wanted him.

there was also talk that we were so cash strapped that Bill asked Arteta if he would hand in a formal transfer request which meant he'd waive a selling on fee. If true then that shows his character, if not then .. who cares? He went to join a better team after 6 years

Spot on. He only behaved in exactly the same way as he did when he played for us but because we’re a precious bunch everyone was up in arms when he returned.

He’s clearly got something to offer as a coach or Guardiola wouldn’t have taken him to Man City.

There's always talk about all sorts of stuff. The fact is he asked to leave.

That's ok. His choice. But you dont reward that decision a few years down the line.

Besides which he has no experience either of managing or these players we have right now.

Arteta was boss for us.

The biggest issue about him leaving was the fee.

He was worth more than 10m - but we were skint and needed the money.

Deal agreed weeks previous - goes through on deadline at the 11th hour so we can't spend it (we had no intention to)

Everton that.

When he was on it, I haven't seen many better. Scored a worldy in the derby as well.

Just a shame it didn't work with Fellaini.

Notice how no one worked with Fellaini? A couple of months with Gibson was probably the best it got for Fellaini. Arteta, Rodwell, Osman, Cahill, he made most partners in midfield look rubbish.

Was supposed to be best in class on the coaches course, too
