An assault on a police officer, falls under the Assaults on Emergency Workers (Offences) Act 2018. Previously an assault on a police officer was charged under the Police Act 1996, however the new legislation was introduced to give the court greater sentencing powers. Assaulting a police officer is now deemed an aggravated assault and is therefore treated more seriously by the courts.

Section 1 of the 2018 Act states that the section “applies to an offence of common assault, or battery, that is committed against an emergency worker acting in the exercise of their functions as an emergency worker”.

This is why the gender aspect of the crime is omitted, because it is a much more serious offence to attack an officer, any officer. It is right that this legislation exists. I understand the old school attitude of men shouldn't hit women, my points earlier in the thread were to acknowledge the above.

I'm frankly amazed he wasn't taken to the hospital under armed guard, checked out then put on remand. This could have been achieved had Rambo been removed from duty and arrested under caution at the same time for aggravated assault.

A woman got battered. You might get off on that kind of thing but not me.

Now it seems news saying the twit* in blue was the one on for arrest, his temper being up - violence at starbucks, just before the vids we've seen. Explains why he's gone to the fists so quickly, the massive 'kin ass hole. Attacked 3 officers and caused injury. 10 years, and temper counselling to pass before any sniff of parole. He's lucky he's not dead.

I appreciate it's not exactly the same scenario but this case reminds me a bit of this.

I'm interested to know what people's views would be if say a British Soldier in the Afghan or Iraq Conflict at some point in the last 20 years had been in a firefight with a Taliban Fighter/Insurgent, they then had them detained and learned that they had committed atrocities against the local population or may have even killed one of their fellow Soldiers.

Would it be right for the Soldier then to just kill the Insurgent because that Soldier had been through a lot during War and the Insurgent was a scumbag anyway? Because that surely breaches the Military code of conduct that the UK signs up to - Geneva Convention or whatever the official term is that the UK adheres to...(also aware a similar incident did actually happen with that Sgt Blackman).

For me, like with the Police in this instance, they are in a profession where they have to show a level of professionalism that their job role demands and cannot breach that, despite what horror they have faced in that time.

Despite the weirdos coming out, the principle that a man should not hit a woman is rooted in ethical, social, and psychological considerations.

Morally, as the stronger sex, violence from a male to a female is rightly frowned upon.

Socially, many cultures uphold norms of chivalry and protection towards women, emphasising respect and non-violence. It is fair to say that men are often stronger than women, making the kind of violence witnessed at Manchester airport harmful and dangerous.

The psychological impact of violence that this woman suffered will no doubt result in severe trauma. Any male not calling this is not a man.
