Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

Had another good day today. Went to the local nurseries and picked up some bedding plants. Only bought a fraction of what Cal would have but it will suffice. We have two large stone troughs outside the front wall, and I bought a couple of nice geraniums for pots either side of the front door. Sorry guys but i do like red geraniums. Also bought some marigold for the back. I love them but Cal fell out of love with them a long time ago because the snails always made a beeline for them. Loads of potted plants in the back have wintered well down here so hopefully I won't need to replace them. Anyway, I'm going to leave them out for a few days to harden (should be OK down here won't I Jazzy?) and plant them out at the end of the week before the weather changes.

Been a lovely afternoon today so spent a couple of hours tidying up the back and sat out and treated myself to a bottle of lager afterwards. It's important to reward myself when I've been good. ;) Tomorrow the neighbour is getting her hair done so she's taking me into Truro and I'll have around 3 hours to myself so see what mischief I can get upto. Going to pop into Iceland on the way back so I've made some room in the freezer. They do some really nice stuff including Harry Ramsdens fish bites and Greggs sausage rolls. Yes, I'm easily pleased. It's another 8.30 pick up which i'm not used to at all. Don't normally get out of bed before 9. lol

Morning all. I'm still sad about yesterday. I'm not saying we should have won but we didn't deserve to lose. Like you @jazzy I am dismayed by the refereeing. It is either incompetence or corruption. Genuinely I'm not sure which. Having seen how FIFA and UEFA conduct themselves then anything is possible. Whatever it is it needs investigating. Ive seen it reported today that PGMOL have said they would have had no issue with being a penalty being given. So why wasnt the ref sent to look at the screen? The VAR check must have lasted a nanosecond. If we go down by two points can we look at two non penalty decisions as the final straw. But I'm still hopeful. We've enough games to save this.
Hope you feel better Jazzy.

I'm fairly sure the mods will have real names and email addresses to reach out to our absent friends. They are good people and will do so if they are concerned. Love the pic of your boy @Toast. @larbert toffee Hope you are all having a great time. Which part of Lanzarote are you in? I've been to Playa Blanca. Really nice.

In other news, cloudy day here, I'm back at work and the oven blew up. I turned it on and all the electrics went off in the house. It needs a new element. Not very expensive so worth fixing rather than getting a new cooker.

Have a good day all. Keep the faith. It ain't over until the fat lady sings!
We are in Playa Blanca Anj, second time at Sandos Pagayou

I wouldn't be planting bedding plants up here yet Fred ( forecasted to have a drop in temp later)
However you are probably OK down there. Your back garden also looks very sheltered so you should be OK.
When we had the house in France we planted bedding plants around Easter but even more temperate down there ( nr La Rochelle).
As a general guide I don't plant them until May.
Absolutely spot on to put them outside for a bit to harden off.
You'll be fine amigo , get those fingers dirty!

Sassy I won't reply on behalf of Gwladys re Peterborough ( Posh ) but will give you a bit of background on the league system of football in England.
I'm sure my friends on here will correct the inevitable errors.

We have what is called a pyramid system that in theory gives every club in England the possibility of progressing to the Premier league.

Top league : Premier
Next ; Championship
Then ; Division 1
Then ; Division 2

After this we have what is referred to as non league but again there is a structure that allows clubs to be promoted from the non league to the football league and ultimately ( in theory ) to the Premier League.

This has actually happened albeit before the rebranding into the Premier league. Wimbledon ( now AFC Wimbledon) rose from the Conference ( non league ) to the old division 1 and even won the FA Cup beating the RS in the final. It wasnt even that long ago - late 90s I think. They used to only get crowds of about 7000!

So, to give you a bit of perspective my home City of Plymouth play in D1 and hope to make the play offs to get into the Championship. I guess they get crowds of about 12000

Derby ( Rooney is manager) , Barnsley and Peterborough have just been relegated from the Championship.

The team most local to me , Southport, play in National league North ( 2 divisions below) Division 2 and get crowds of about 1500.

All of the 72 teams in the football league are fully professional as are about 20 non league teams.

Hope this helps!
Thanks so much for the explanation, Jazzy. I aware about the pyramid system and I have read here at the forum about Championship but tbh I thought to that was held in Division 1 so I’m now feel more knowledgeable about English football. Muchas gracias amigo! Xxx

Sunny now, Sass but the wind is very cool. Teams relegated from the Championship play in League One if they are relegated from there it is League Two. The bottom two teams in League Two drop out of the English Football League into the National League. There are teams in National League who used to be established Football League teams e.g. Notts County who have been in there years and have failed to get back into the League. Relegation can be a slippery slope for some. Hope it isn’t us.
I’m glad the sun ended up shining your way. And I also appreciate your explanation. Feels intimidated that we have put ourselves in this position that has been so hard to get out for what were other established clubs like ourselves, so I really hope for the best for us. I can’t even imagine how difficult it would be to find Everton games here in the US is they are our of the PL :(
