Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

Good morning all on this dismal day here in Hyvinkää .I hope all are well and had a good night's rest . A little useless thing I don't remember telling on here .The Finnish army have pea and ham soup every Thurday ,so do most of the population including us this week ,there are differences they chop onion very fine and add it -we don't like that -and we all use hamburger mustard at the bottom of the bowl then the soup and stir .
I am going round the bend not being able to cut the last few trees down as the sap is surely rising now ,another fact they tap some Birch trees for the sap and make hooch from it ,I have had it but it isn't on my favourites list .
It would be nice to see a post from @Vegas Toffee Girl ,no one has to work that hard ,she must be able to post when she on horseback!
Have a great day all COYB
There must be a historical reason for pea and ham soup on a Thursday? It’s very random to say the least.

Morning everyone,

Nice bright morning here.

Seem to have woken with a cold though which is a bit of a bummer.

Need to start getting to grips with the garden but no real energy.
I’m going to try something different this year for my front garden and picked up some mixed seeds yesterday. Taken by the wild meadow flowers locally, I plan to try that in my borders for a bit of colour. I also picked up some butterfly and bee friendly flower seeds to give it a go as well.

Probably because I used to like Sparks
Mate, you'd still hate it if they covered a C&W rap song and turned it into a guitar classic😀

I loved it. But it was my current favourite band covering one of my favourite songs from the 70s, This town ain't big enough. Stayed true to the original too. I don't normally like it when classic songs are practically rewritten. Doesn't normally work for me.

Anyway, you're not alone in disliking them Jazz. The level of hate out there on social media is quite staggering.

You seemed to have had a cold since the summer mate. Take it easy.

Not too bad here today either albeit very windy. Which is good as I need to take a trip into Falmouth to resupply on my jasmine rice. Had to do without my spicy chicken fried rice last week and In already getting withdrawal symptoms.😀

Careful mate. I'll show you a pic of Cal's "wildflower " bed one day. Let's say you'll need thick garden gloves and good secateurs 😀

Re the Last Dinner Party? It doesn’t seem to be holding them back anyway.

No it doesn't mate. They're doing incredibly well for a new band and have already managed the crossover to mainstream and also to the US, both of which has proved almost impossible for young guitar bands in recent years.

But they should be able to enjoy success and garner a fanbase without all the hate that has accompanied it.99.9% of other successful bands don't get it and very little of it appears linked to their music.

Here's an example, an album review out today from The Spectator. The opening gambit "The Last Dinner Party are, sadly, rather good. The debut album of the dislikeable band is pompous, precocious, clever and melodious "

WTF. 😀😀😀

What a horribly bitter comment from no doubt a failed musician reluctantly turned journalist.

I’d say talented and successful young females also grinds the gears of quite a few entitled people out there.

There was a much worse one last week from the senior music journalist with the times. He took a comment from an article he wrote on the band 6 months ago, took it completely out of context and then attributed it to a completely different band member to basically throw her under a bus. The online backlash against her was quite horrendous. He later apologised but the damage had been done.

But yeah.Im pretty sure their being women is a big part of it, plus the misconception that they come from serious wealth because one of them is posh, and the fact they are super hyped.

They seem to be coping with it pretty well though.

I must read up on all this as I have been oblivious to it all. They are getting a lot of plays on Radio 1 and I thought it was all positive for them.

Give me their quirkiness any day of the week ahead of the usual music by numbers that seems to appeal to the masses (Ed Sheeran as a prime example).

They were signed to Island records before they released their first single, and supported rolling stones within a year of their first live performance. People are suspicious of their rise for good reason, taking away any sexist abuse

Certainly had a cold on and off ( more on really) since September.

So all those who don't like them are misogynistic working class Fred ? Yep that sums me up , well the working class bit anyway.
