Morning all and a lovely morning it is. There was a beautiful pink dawn and Jupiter shining brightly, hark at me waxing all lyrical. lol Just waiting for the pot to brew, not much planned today, should have been visiting my friend but she called yesterday to say she has the mother of all colds. I will remember. Not sure what the WiFi situation will be like. I think I read it was 5€ a day on the ship. I'm far too tight to pay that! And of course because of Brexit there's no free roaming anymore. I might have to bombard you all when I get back!

Don't be so sure about the free roaming Anj. It may depend on how old your contract is. I had free roaming around Europe and so did my friends. Check with your mobile provider before you go. Mine was part of my package.

Thanks for the tip Fred. Just checked contract dates and because mine was before October 2021 I still get the free roaming. Would never have thought about that.
The downside is be prepared for holiday spam lol

We'll have to agree to disagree on this blue. After 12 years of the current Govt the country is on its arse. The rich have got richer and the poor have got poorer. Food banks have been completely normalised. It is outrageous. That mini budget last Friday was entirely aimed at the rich and the £ has tanked. Reinstate the 45% tax band and make corporate giants pay their tax - not more tax just the amount they should. Where do you think the money for last Friday's budget will come from? More cuts to public services. Taking away from those who need it most. I'm all for re nationalisation of utilities and transport. It's a joke that other European government shares in our railways and are using the money they get to improve the quality of life for their citizens.
I found this brilliant quote from Hubert Humphrrey who was a US vice president from 1965 to 1969
" The moral test of government is how that government treats those who are in the dawn of life, the children; those who are in the twilight of life, the elderly; those who are in the shadows of life; the sick, the needy and the handicapped.”

Agree with most of that Anj so it isn't that leftie ?

Said for a while that we need to have utilities, transport and certain key industries like steel under state control. It will be expensive to put in place but long term will be worth it.

So much if it now is under foreign control and ownership and billions are going out in dividends and fat cat salaries whilst we suffer. That doesn't sit right with me.

Thanks guys, appreciate your kind words. I try not to let it effect me but the old grey matter isn't normal and due to people taking the pee out of the state over the years, even though I'm genuinely with health issues, I always feel people look down on me.

If people understood that my issues have led me to be where I am now in one sense and my body conking out another, they'd not be so quick to judge. Walk a mile in my shoes and all that.

This got is morally bankrupt and if they continue unchecked the country soon will be.
The notion that making the rich richer and that that eventually makes the poor better off is for the birds. Bidens comments on Trusseconomics and trickle down were both scathing and accurate.
I'd be surprised if she even nmakes the next election.
I'm sorry @blue1948 but , presumably because you have been away so long ,you are not au fait with the reality of how bleak it is in Britain under the Tories and post Brexit.

It has its faults I agree, but I think it's a bit harsh to say GOT is morally bankrupt Jazz. ?

Yeah I get that T. Its natural for people to feel the way you do especially when suffering some form if mental condition. Cal and I have both been there ourselves as have most people to varying degrees.

But the hard truth is that those that know you well will understand your situation. Those that don't will likely have their own issues to deal with. You probably aren't even in their thoughts. And that is not a reflection on you mate. It's just they are so tied up with their own issues and matters that directly affect them.

I am sorry if I gave you the idea that I support the government ,I am a socialist through and through .I was commenting on the false promises they all make ,whichever party .They do it to gain power and then renagé , I have no interest in the UK government and I once again am sorry if you misunderstood my comment.

I am sorry if I gave you the idea that I support the government ,I am a socialist through and through .I was commenting on the false promises they all make ,whichever party .They do it to gain power and then renagé , I have no interest in the UK government and I once again am sorry if you misunderstood my comment.

I agree the cost of Nationalisation will be huge, and of itself I am definitely not a fan. But for key industries and utilities essential to the long term well being of the country and its people, I believe its a worthwhile investment.

Afternoon all , long time no speak so hope you’re all well. Just had a couple of pints with @Barnfred 55 , which was a very enjoyable experience culminating in a disagreement over who’d pay . Fortunately the licensee settled the ‘minor dispute’ by basically covering it , leaving us to sort the tip .

I’ve had to fly off to a prior engagement but hopefully we’ll catch up again . Pleasure that mate , great company.
