Yeah there is no mistaking the lineage there jazzy. You are a star.@Armaghtoffee the above is clearly a different type of clematis to yours but close enough to see its the same family.
I actually think its a Clematis Montana but not sure enough to bet my house on it !Yeah there is no mistaking the lineage there jazzy. You are a star.
If I am correct most roses are grown on a "rootstock" that is a different rose ,the reason for this is that it dictates the habit of the top half .So what you have is the rootstock growing and the problem is that it is usually more vigourous than the top and you should cut it away .If you count the no of leaves in the cluster might find a dfferent number but they look different on the photo anyway.Morning all. I come with a plant based query that I know one of you Green fingered geniuses will know.
I have this rose plant growing out the front

At the base of its stump there is a new offshoot branch that is actually as big as the main plant itself (if it could support itself). However, it is flowering as this:

What is happening here Mascoteers?

Of course I didn't read ahead a la fred but the leaves don't look like Clematis to me -
I agree, I think it's a dog rose. Either way the answer is if you like it then leave it be. If you don't like it then remove it.If I am correct most roses are grown on a "rootstock" that is a different rose ,the reason for this is that it dictates the habit of the top half .So what you have is the rootstock growing and the problem is that it is usually more virile than the top and you should cut it away .If you count the no of leaves in the cluster might find a dfferent number but they look different on the photo anyway.

It is quite ungainly looking and I doubt it will ever be able to hold itself. If the hedge wasn’t alongside for it to lean on I think it would be on the ground by now.I agree, I think it's a dog rose. Either way the answer is if you like it then leave it be. If you don't like it then remove it.
This is my philosophy to gardening. If you like it it's a flower, if you don't like it it's a weed. lol
That's a shame Anj. Flying back on the 7th.Hello everybody. Hope you are all well. It's another lovely day but we do have rain forecast this afternoon. Son came home last night. Good to see him. He's here until Sunday so we have planned an afternoon in the beer garden of our local pub tomorrow- weather permitting. Its a nice pub, has its own brewery, Sonnet 43, attached to it. So if you ever see the beer while you're out and about, I'm almost its next door neighbour. I did see it being sold in a pub in London when I was down there for a Union meeting.
When are you off to Liverpool Fred? I'm there 8/9 July so I don't think we overlap. Otherwise I would have bought you a pint in The Kingsman!
Been out checking the tomato plants. We have three visible tomatoes. This is a 300% improvement on last year's crop already. lol Unfortunately the melon growing attempt failed. Something ate them.
Anyway. Lunchtime over. Back to work. Catch you later x
Surprised you haven't heard of Billie Eilish Jazz. She sang the latest Bond theme tune.Morning all you lovely people ,
Well Mrs J off to get her hair done today ( the long appointment where she comes back with her hair a different colour before magically in a weeks time it reverts to normal ) so I'm in charge.
Racing to get the housework done so I can sit and watch or listen to the cricket.
Started off glorious weather but now clouded over , humid and sultry and looking like rain. So big questions
1. Do I put the sheets out
2. Will it stay dry and I do some weeding later or if it rains watch the test match.
Decisions , decisions - a man's work is never done lol .
Anyway tonight's sorted watching Glastonbury and me and Mrs J moaning about how we haven't got a clue who the artists are - until Macca and Diana Ross come on later in the weekend!
Have a lovely day y'all.
I've heard of her but as far as I'm aware not heard her.Surprised you haven't heard of Billie Eilish Jazz. She sang the latest Bond theme tune.
She's the current in-thing with all the youngsters, and unlike most of the new acts coming through I quite like her. She has a really unique voice and style about her. Not sure how good she is live but it's worth a watch.
Thought you'd be cockahoop with the bi election results Jazz. Surprised you haven't mentioned them. Definitely an anti Boris vote I think, especially the Tiverton one.I've heard of her but as far as I'm aware not heard her.
