Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

My great nephews were there and I got a chocolate cookie with a candle in lol lol bless them, good lads they are even if they support questionable teams lol one is Utd and the youngest has said he's supporting City with his cousin, I said why don't you support Everton with me, your uncle and other cousin but looks like he's a glory hunter lol

The one who supports Utd is well into the footy as well, reminds me that kids do know more about players and stuff than us oldies who don't do all the FM or FIFA as much as we used too. I knew loads when I was young about football and we had to hunt for information with no internet.
The football knowledge of the FIFA generation far outstrips anything we ever knew T. Sure we all knew the top players and all that but kids now know every player going and their top sprint speed!

I used to do the panini stickers Fred always lol but as soon as football manager games came out it opened up the world, strange how I used to know quite a lot about Italian and Spanish football as well.

It seems to me, across the board the last couple of decades have well and truly caused a insurmountable gap for just a few clubs in all leagues and taken the one thing our top flight always had which was competition, you still had the best teams but they weren't always the same teams.
No offence T but I always thought Panini was a type of bread.lol

I suppose FM & FIFA are the modern equivalent of the old footie cards we used to collect (I say we but I know you're quite a bit younger than me so may have been before your time). You don't get the bubble gum with FIFA though. lol
I do love FIFA I must say and I am currently top of La Liga with Las Palmas I shall have you know.

I have only ever had one version of fifa, 2014, I always preferred Pro Evo but the licensing obviously took EA further away from konami. I do have FM22 not played in months so might have a bash sometime.
I think EA have now lost the rights to FIFA but no doubt it will continue in some similar format given it’s audience.

What did you call them lol they were always panini, they did cards one year, playing cards and I collected all 52, had them for years.
To be honest, I had no idea who made them. They were just footie cards that came in packs with bubble gum. You'd get about 4 or 5 cards in each pack and each year there would be maybe 50 or so in a complete set. You could buy a wall chart to stick them on. All I remember is that all my mates spent every penny of our pocket money on them and the whole area around us was littered with sticky pink bubble gum on the pavements. I'm sure the adults used to do their nut when we walked sticky chewing gum all over the carpets.lol

Just done a quick google search now and companies called Topps and A&BC made them. Never heard of them tbh, but one of the brand names I remember looking at the images was "shoot". I'm sure people of my generation must remember them. Everybody was walking around chewing this sweet sickly pink bubble gum in those days. lol
