Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

Good morning all. It's my free day off today. Civil.Servants get an extra Bank Holiday for the Queen's birthday. To be taken in June. The Tory Govt hate this and have for many years tried to take it off us. However it was a 'gift from the Sovereign' therefore they can't. So up yours Conservatives! I won't be wasting my day. Going to clean the windows (had to sack my window cleaner. Very awkward conversation last year and he hasn't been seen since. Although with hindsight I probably should have reported him to the police as well). Then I'm going to buy some compost and repot a few things. Our veggies are growing quite nicely. Just me and Mr F in tonight. I think a curry might be on the menu. Speaking of cooking, I did a roast last Sunday and decided to make rice pudding as well. Oh. My. Goodness. Overcooked it totally. You couldhave used it as quick drying cement. Not my finest culinary hour!
Have a lovely day all x
Many years ago we bough a pressure cooker and the simplest thing in the book was rice pud ,so easy ,I put the stuff in and lit the gas and waited about 30 mins until the steam came out the top sadly it was smoke not steam and the "rice" had welded itself to the pan rendering it useless or was that me ?

Don't know whether this is a good idea or not but just booked a holiday in Italy in September.
Hopefully all the travel chaos will be sorted by then and going with Jet2 who haven't cancelled any flights yet.
Off to the Amalfi coast - and going to tour. Looking forward to it.
Hire a Fiat 500 and get in the mood ,my son went for his honeymoon and loved it ,his wife is a pescatarian erring on the veggie side so plenty of choice to be had .

Welcome to my world! I cooked mine in the oven. Checked it once, everything going amazingly well. Next time I looked it was glued to the dish and a strange brown colour.

Morning peeps, just about.

Had my radiators installed and my new boiler, not changed much they don't look much different really apart from the boiler which obviously looks brand new and more digital. I've not touched it though cba breaking it already lol.

Just the flooring to do now on 14th and I can concentrate on decorating

That’s good news, hopefully the new boiler is much more efficient than the old one so should be less gas used although with gas prices being what they are won’t be any cheaper, just not as expensive to run as the old one if you catch my drift. lol

Hello again, cleaned the windows - went old school and used newspaper to dry them with. Looking good. Then while doing a bit of cleaning, managed to drop part of the hoover ( don't ask) into the beer stash. One smashed bottle, beer all over, house smells like a pub. Cut finger on broken glass, blood mingling with beer. I'm not cut out for this domestic goddess lark! ? ?

Nearly had an incident though, council workers just left the front door open, luckily I was on beagle watch as she got out as a worker just left all the doors open, she only got across the road which given her non-road sense could have been worse I guess.
That was lucky. We're having new stair and landing carpet fitted on Monday - the decorating made the old carpet look really shabby. Given how nosey she is, I am fully expecting there to be a cat shaped lump under the new fitted carpet! ?

Oh no. Poor bottle of beer. Hope your finger is ok

Workies always do this. They don't give a toss that you have pets in the house. We have to lock ours in a bedroom.

I was just about to post about the gollfers. Multi millionaire golfers plead poverty and need more money. I've never been a huge golf fan but watch the big competitions. Rory McIlroy is my new favourite golfer just because of his stance on this. Phil Mickleson comes across as an odious specimen of humanity. I loved the question yesterday when Westwood and Poulter were asked would you play for Putin. They had no answer. I often wonder, and frequently did on a smaller scale as a union rep when dealing with horrible bully managers, at which point up the greasy pole do you sell your soul?
Random aside for you; Rory McIlroy’s uncle lives in Armagh and played GAA for the county.

Rumour has it that young Rory lined out a couple of times at his uncle’s football club when visiting his cousins in the summer.

Luckily I know what she's like so I was conscious of it, I have a section of the pen I normally use just to cover the living room door, so keeps her in and she can still see but no, council worker preferred opening and shutting door, just without the shutting part. Even the neighbours who I don't really get on with noticed her out. Might not like me but they love the Beagle lol
