Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

Good morning all. Quite breezy here today and not as warm as I anticipated. Been out doing some weeding and just come in for lunch - Aldi soy and chili calamari with salad. If you like fishy stuff can totally recommend the calamari.
Thanks for the input about the dog. I've told her that if it's a nice day and we are outside the dog can come but if it is indoors he can't. A has agreed to that and then said that her daughter might be off work so could have him anyway. @Ducans elbow Nora is really cute. A's dachsund has long hair and is mostly black.
@Terrarian You're not the only one who is having some decorating doing. We're getting our downstairs done. Charlotte (daughter)'s boyfriend is 32, ex forces and currently unemployed. He's been doing a Master's degree in Health and Safety and is also primary carer for his granddad who he lives with since his marriage broke up ( nothing to do with Charlotte, they had split up long before she met him). I asked him if he fancied earning some money by decorating and he was all over it!! He's sent me a list of what we need and he's starting next week. Charlotte is off work next week so she is going to give him a hand.

Just seen some pics of DCL setting off on his holidays - looking lovely in a pale pink checked suit. I really hope he has a good time. Looking back on the season and his comments the other day it must have been soul destroying for him to be injured for so long. He probably has never experienced anything like that and made worse by the fact that he had broken into the England set up and everything was on the up for him.

Off to the gym tonight - haven't been for two weeks due to my extended stay in Liverpool. It will be brutal! Have a fun day everybody x
I've been having lots of fishy things this week Anj. After the crab salad lunch on the boat yesterday I had a king prawn and fried squid in chilli starter followed by pan fried brill on a bed if champ. It was delicious. Michelle and I polished off the crab for lunch today.

I don't suggest for a moment that it will help but I was told that if you stand about a yard from a tree and then focus on the distance for twenty seconds and back to the tree for twenty seconds and continue like that for 3 minutes it trains the eye muscles .
Perhaps Google it and see if it might help your situation as it would be easier to live with than an op.
The person who told me said it would put opticians out of business if we all did it .As it is the way we live now not needing to focus much further than a screen in front of us .
That sounds like a really good idea. I’ll certainly give it a try. If I’m totally honest I’d really rather not have an operation. Thanks for suggesting it.?

Eldest son drove down from Nottingham today. Cooked us lunch, did a load of jobs. Second son arriving from York on Saturday for three days. They do look after us. Got my first Radio Therapy on 6th June. (D Day, hope its a good Omen!)
You and Mrs M have done a great job with your kids, very clear to see that in how they look out for you both.

Good to have a date for the first session, helps you focus your mind and meet it head on.

That's good. You have a lovely family. Always good to have a date for something. You can plan around it then.

Good morning all on this rainy day here in Finland .I hope all had a great kip and wake anew for the day ahead. Have great day all.
Raining here in West Lancs. Forecast poor for the day. So, with Mrs J working at the charity shop Tintin and Rosie will keep Granny company whilst I'm doing a leg session in the gym.

Chaired the table tennis league AGM last evening ,to mix metaphors, it was a cross between herding cats and pulling teeth.

No one wants to come onto the committee, we have no gender or ethnic diversity and the league is getting older without any succession planning. And when we trying to introduce modest reforms to encourage younger and family participation like an earlier start ( and therefore finish ) to matches they get voted down. Don't know why I bother.

I wonder if this apathy is replicated in other sporting organisations?

Anyway have a lovely day all.

Morning all, rough winds do shake the darling buds of May here (welcome to Gwladys’ culture corner lol ). Mr G.has gone off to help his mate this morning. He is a painter and decorator and his customer wants a conservatory painting to match her windows, after consulting just about every paint chart nothing suited so they are going to take a window out, have it scanned at retailers to find exact match and reinstall window, before proceeding with the painting. What fun?. @jazzy used to have a similar problem regarding apathy when running the “Friends of” committee of our kids primary school. Invitations to join were met with shuffling of feet, mumbling apologies of “love to but no time” etc. Occasionally someone would join but we were mostly the same parents. I used to overhear remarks “I would do it but they are too cliquey“! You can’t win. Enjoy the gym session and at least the rain saves a lot of watering. Have good day all.?

Just grin and remember the good you get from it ,nothing lasts forever so enjoy the moment.

I think it's a common theme. We could never get people to join the union committee. Nobody would come forward. We eventually adopted the direct approach- identified people who we thought would be good reps and asked them directly. We did get some excellent reps by using that tactic. You could try it.
