Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

Morning all, chilly and windy again here. Thanks for all the goods wishes regarding my eyesight. A very loud WAKEY, WAKEY!!! @Barnfred 55 (you may not be old enough to get the reference though) lol . Pleased you are having a great time. Don’t apologise for long posts @Terrarian good to see you posting, we worry when you are not around. @Sassy Colombian Hope all is well health wise and hope your daughter isn’t too affected by the shooting. I hear they have ”shooter drills “ like we have fire drills over here. I don’t know why they don’t just ban guns but the gun lobby are very powerful. The post office where I worked was subjected to an armed robbery , still affects me over 20 years later, I was an adult, I can’t imagine what it must be like when you are only a child. @Ducans elbow how cute is Nora? My granddaughter is angling for a dachshund, they already have two Cavaliers, think she’s going to need a bit more than pester-power before she gets one.lol Have a good day all.

Wow. Just got back to my room. Pissed as a fart. Supposed to be meeting for breakfast in 5 hours?

Had the most amazing meal then went back to the hotel bar for a nightcap. Ended up with the head barman, hotel owner and local wine merchant until now. Great guys with lots of stories to tell. Great night Great music and great conversation
Sounds like you are having a wonderful time with some great experiences with interesting and lovely people.

Just reading about Mbappes contract allegedly £127m signing on fee, £1m per week wages and a say in who the staff are and who they sign.

I just don't know what to say, it is disgusting, I honestly don't think I will be following this sport at the top level if this carries on. The money is ruining the game and ruining clubs, without clubs there is no sport.

This needs reigning in. Billionaires are the worst thing that has happened to the game, the way it is going is unsustainable.

@Gwladysover pleased that the prism is working. Is that the long term.solution or is the ophthalmologist buying time whilst your sight improves naturally?

@Barnfred 55 those photos were absolutely stunning . I've only ever been to Jersey. They reminded me of the Isles of Scilly which reminds me of a story when we went to Tresco. We went to Ruin Beach Cafe which is actually a top quality restaurant. Tresco is a bit pricey and a very pissed Bill Oddie was on the next table. We were served by a lovely Scouse girl who was very funny and typically had no airs and graces. We asked her how she came to get there " I did the interview by zoom and thought I was going to Italy ( Sicilly not Scilly)".

Her best line though was to Bill Oddie when he questioned the bill in is very unpleasant way " Behave yourself you Judi Dench sat there last week and she wasn't half as drunk as you". He soon pipped down.

Sickening news from America to wake up too. That is just pure evil walking the earth and masquerading as a human being. Thank God for this place and all the positives vibes therein.

@Gwladysover great news re the opticians, must be a real relief.

@jazzy loved the pic of the garden furniture getting a final quality check :)

@Barnfred 55 hope the head isn’t too bad this morning. Loving the pics you are posting of your holiday, looks a beautiful spot.

@blue1948 quite a luxury having nature as stunning as those deers just strolling up to your garden.

@Terrarian is the work at your house all done?

@Sassy Colombian hope Mr Sassy feels better soon. I have a child off school this morning and will have to go test him now just to be safe.

Ha ha enjoy your breakfast meeting with a pounding head lol been there too often myself
Just woke up F. Mad scramble for my phone to check the time. Breathes sigh of relief that I have an hour to shower and pack(moving hotels today) before heading off to the boat. Still pissed so no idea how bad the hangover is going to be. Thinking best strategy is to keep myself topped up for the next 2 days and delay the suffering for when I'm home in Cornwall

The words "Scilly Isles" have been mentioned a lot over the last few days. Very beautiful and unspoilt part of the world.

My bathroom floor and new sink are all done and dusted AT, my new boiler and radiators are being installed on the 7th June and my hallway and kitchen flooring is being installed on the 14th June.

After that just need to finish the decorating off and that will just leave my bedroom that doesn't have a floor or decorated.

Not sure when I will be able to afford that though as I will need to use a different company for the floor as the one I am using now, the fitter won't move any furniture and there's no way I can move my bedroom furniture on my own. The wardrobe won't fit out of the door anyway. I had to take it all apart to get it in, it's a big oak thing.

Still a work in progress then.

We got new carpet down recently and the fitter moved all the furniture around at the time. Charged an extra £15 but I didn’t mind that as it saved me all the time and hassle of it.

A proper carpet company normally does, I am having to use pay weekly carpets it's the only way I can afford it and they outsource the fitting to a contractor, not kidding last time wouldn't even move a wire that was left in the front room(TV coax) he also took my living room door off and left it off, was 2 years nearly before it got put back up lol
