Martinez Won't Leave.... Right?

I think the Arsenal job IS tailor made for him. But I can see Arsenal wanting to see Martinez prove himself a little more than he has so far. They dont want to do 'a United' and employ a man utterly out of his depth.

As probably mentioned before....lots of people wrote him off as that bloke that got Wigan relegated.

At least Moyes had 11 years to show what he was about. Martinez is just starting really and I think he knows it.

Is laughing at someone's opinion not arrogant either? Or refusing to respond to arguments because they are "drivel"?

You're assuming that arsenal could never become as big as Barca.

Arsenal are one of the most successful clubs in this country, they have one of the best stadiums in the country, they are the biggest club in London, one of the major cities in Europe. They also have a successful youth set up and one of the biggest budgets in world football. If a new manager brought success to them there really isn't a limit to how big they could grow.
your 'what if' post was drivel.

Arsenal have continually qualified for the group stages of the CL for 17 years. They are still light years behind the 'elite'.

They have always been one of the most succesful English clubs, they have always had a top notch stadium, they have always been the biggest club in London, they have always been in one of Europes major cities.
Still light years behind the elite.

They had/have a manager who has brought them success.
STILL light years behind the elite.

And a change in manager has never had an impact on a club's success before? They are behind the elite clubs, but not light years behind. They are a big club, but they have the potential to be much bigger. That is the point I was making.

Every club has the potential to be 'bigger'. Every manager has the potential to be successful. The point I was making is that Arsenal will NEVER be as big as Barca.

Ever.

Regardless of imaginary future successes, they really are light years behind Barca and will continue to be. It's just the way it is.

Even without CL Wenger has made that club millions with his lack/distaste of the transfer market. He's there as long as he wants.

Yea, but the way football is now, any club in the top half have the potential to be much bigger. Whats to stop some gazillionair buying Southampton, Newcastle or Sunderland. Spurs move to wembley, West ham to the olympic stadium, any of these clubs could do a 'Man City / Chelsea' on it. The potential of a premier league club has almost become irrelevant in the 21st century. It's a funny old game

But money isn't the issue. City are light years behind Barca, and will be for quite some time. So are Chelsea and PSG.

Barca - like Real, Man Utd, and Liverpool have a MASSIVE worldwide fanbase that doesn't grow overnight. It would require 20+ years of consistent top level success to grow that fanbase. The time for Utd-style dynasties is probably over now, so those clubs that had them before now are entrenched as a level above.

Not saying no one can break that barrier, just that it will be a while, and will require a good bit of luck...and it's still unlikely.

He will prob leave at some point - if he does hopefully it will be cos one of the european giants have come circling cos that can only mean one thing - hes acheived wonders with everton !

I don't he will move next season, we'll play Europe next season(CL or EL),
and he wants to see how are young players like Barkley,Stones will develope.
My only fear that Bill will not back him enough in this summer transfer window
and he might leave after next season if Bill doesn't show enough ambition.

First sensible thing you've said in a while.

Your spot on about the Arsenal job - Wenger has laid foundations of good passing football. Martinez is one of the stand out candidates to continue that (and push it on) in the Premier League and European leagues. The fact hes doing it here though will be a bonus to them.

The thought of Wenger being shown the door worries me slightly cos I think of all the managers out there, after this season with us Martinez has proved what an excellent manager he is.

Hopefully Arsenal will stick with Wenger a bit longer. Roberto is building something here and long may it continue.

Wenger has 4 months left on his contract and most people don't expect him to sign a new deal
